Burnt discs wont play in DVD player

Hi there,

 

Can anyone help. I am recently new it ImgBurn and thik its great. I am able to burn both x8 and x16 Dvd-R discs, and they play in my PC. But when I put them into my DVD recorders -( I have tried two seperate units- both relatively new machines) The discs wont play or I get No disc messages.

 

sorry to sound so stupid, but can anyone give me step by step advice
