Cynthia Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 Hi and welcome to the forum, mezlock! The media is rated 8x, but it can be that LG when they wrote the firmware decided that the burning results with speeds above 4x with that media went crappy so they just allowed 4x speed as max. Also possible that they still haven't added the 8x speed for that firmware in their latest firmware. Will perhaps be released in an upcoming firmware version.
blutach Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 The firmware shows that it can only burn those crappy Ritek (Memorex) DLs at 4x max. Use Verbatim, +R, 2.4x, MKM-001-00, Made in Singapore anyway for a high quality burn. Regards

Regards Thanks to both, I thought I was doing something wrong, but I just did the latest firmware so thats not it and I guess I got an update on the quality of these disks. So far are OK @ 4X Thanks again

Then I was at Fry's last night and tripped accross these GQ (great quality) disks that were showing 8X. I got them home and this is what I saw: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H10L LL12 (ATA) Current Profile: DVD+R DL Disc Information: Status: Empty Erasable: No Free Sectors: 4,173,824 Free Space: 8,547,991,552 bytes Free Time: 927:32:74 (MM:SS:FF) Supported Write Speeds: 2.4x, 4x, 6x, 8x, 10x DVD
dontasciime Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Scan one in dvdinfopro or nero cdspeed if you get the chance and a bit of time
blutach Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Yeah - the reports we see, show the MKM-001 2.4x are the better blanks. Regards
