pstein Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 After having installed ImgBurn I noticed that ImgBurn tries to contact Microsoft and other sites. My firewall popped up a couple of times. How can I turn off this crap? What kind of internal information is ImgBurn trying to sent to which server? This is not a proof of trustworthyness Peter
Cynthia Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 Hi and welcome to the forum, pstein! As a note, ImgBurn polls (pings) a few places (Microsoft, Google and Yahoo) to see if there is an internet connection. In the tab 'Events' in the settings you can disable it. The issue you will run into is that you will not know if there is a new version released.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 How comes you didn't just tell it not to check for updates when you installed it?
blutach Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 The check to those sites is to see if your intenet connection is OK. They are well known public servers. Search the forum for other discussions about this - some paranoid. For example - http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=3694 Regards

LOCOENG Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Imgburn must be the only program you have that checks for updates.
blutach Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Yeah. Who wants updates, anyway? We can all go home now. No coding for LUK! or testing for the betas. Party Time! Great Success! Regards
