kidicarus Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 (edited) I always used Nero previously to burn cds with and to burn off avi converted dvds, but now Nero wont burn at all, if it does the disc is blank when it says it has fnished burning. Imgburn and CDburnerXP both burn fine, I also tried Roxio but that doesnt burn either disc comes out blank again, also when I put a blank dvd in, xp tells me I have inserted a blank cd, can anyone help? Thanks Edited April 30, 2008 by kidicarus
LOCOENG Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Imgburn and CDburnerXP both burn fine So Imgburn works fine and you've come to the Imgburn forum for us to help you fix Nero and Roxio?
kidicarus Posted April 30, 2008 Author Posted April 30, 2008 Imgburn and CDburnerXP both burn fine So Imgburn works fine and you've come to the Imgburn forum for us to help you fix Nero and Roxio? No, what im asking is, does imgburn use different drivers to Nero and Roxio? and why do they burn and Nero and Roxio dont. I'm not bothered what I use to burn, just curious, thought my writer had packed up until I use imgburn and found that it burns fine.
LOCOENG Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Post a burn log from Imgburn and we'll take a look at it.
Cynthia Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 The only difference that I know of is that Nero uses it's own NERO ASPI/SPTI.
blutach Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 You can use whatever interface you like - SPTI is the default and should work on everything. Some people with AnyDVD installed use ElbyCDIO. Older systems will require ASPI. Post your filter driver load order from the tools menu. Regards
kidicarus Posted April 30, 2008 Author Posted April 30, 2008 This is the log; =============================================== Filter Driver Load Order - ImgBurn v2.4.1.0 =============================================== Upper Device Filter: [None Found] Upper Class Filter: [None Found] Device: CD/DVD-ROM Device Lower Class Filter: [None Found] Lower Device Filter: [None Found] Somethings not right there i'm guessing!
blutach Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Yes. You should have an upper filter called redbook and a lower one called imapi. These are straight from the XP load. Someone more skilled than I in filter management will come along and help you get them reinstalled. Regards
kidicarus Posted May 1, 2008 Author Posted May 1, 2008 Just ran Bustrace and it gave the following result; ---------------------------------------------------- Filter Driver Load Order http://www.bustrace.com ---------------------------------------------------- Upper Device Filter: redbook Device Object: DVDRW IDE1004 Lower Device Filter: imapi Driver Name: redbook.sys File Location: c:\windows\system32\drivers File Description: Redbook Audio Filter Driver File Version: 5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158) [5.1.2600.2180] Product Name: Microsoft
blutach Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 That is strange, yes. The registry key HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Enum/IDE/CDRom(name and ID of drive) should contain all the filters. You might check it. Regards
kidicarus Posted May 1, 2008 Author Posted May 1, 2008 (edited) Imapi and redbbook are listed as filters in the registry. Just looked at hardware entries and I seem to have 3 instances of Primary and Secondary IDE channel, and 3 Standard Dual Channel IDE Controller entries. Might just do a reinstall probly be easier!! Edited May 1, 2008 by kidicarus
blutach Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Delete the controller and reboot. Please see the FAQ. Regards
kidicarus Posted May 1, 2008 Author Posted May 1, 2008 OK, tried that still have 3 of everything listed, do I have to uninstall all 3 controller entries or just one? Thanks btw
kidicarus Posted May 2, 2008 Author Posted May 2, 2008 Tried deleting all 3 same problem, think the registry is corrputed, tried system restore, wont complete, tried all different dates, will do a reinstall. Thanks for all the help
