DOK
I'd appreciate if someone could look at this log file and tell me what you think. This is the first time I've ever had trouble with Verbatim DL's before. In fact, every disc in this batch has failed, and I had never failed one before (been doing this over 2 years with the same matshita drive). I know the drive is horrible...and no, they don't have any firmware available for it :-( I 21:10:51 ImgBurn Version 2.4.1.0 started! I 21:10:51 Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 2) I 21:10:51 Total Physical Memory: 1,039,788 KB - Available: 372,620 KB I 21:10:51 Initialising SPTI... I 21:10:51 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 21:10:51 Found 1 DVD
mmalves
Are those Verbatim blanks made in Singapore or India (look in the package)? People have better results with the ones made in Singapore. Also notice that burners wear out, and laptop burners aren't known for their reliability/dependability. One last resort would be trying a lens cleaner on it. It might be a good idea to get an external burner
Cynthia
If the laptop is a Sony Vaio, there is a 1.11 version here of the firmware. But it would be safer for you to check on the Vaio webpage. http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/FIRMWARE/...-841S-111.shtml I agree with mmalves that it's not the best/modern writer to use these days.
