I'm using the current version 2.4.1.0 on Win XP SP3 and I can no longer burn any DVDs with my Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-105 1.33. I even went back to version 2.4.0.0 and I still got the same errors. I even updated the burner firmware but I still had the same problem.

Reason: Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format

Retry Failed - Reason: Invalid Address For Write

However I can still burn on my PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-108 1.04 but I don't like using it for burning. I always using my 105 for burning.

Please make sure you're using the latest ImgBurn, downloaded from the ImgBurn.com mirror.

I think your Pioneer DVR-105 burner is worn out. Make sure you have the latest firmware on your Pioneer DVR-108 burner and you should be able to use it :)

The drive is what returned that error code. If there wasn't a 'write error' (i.e. some problem writing to the media), it wouldn't have said it.

If Nero works, try setting ImgBurn to use the 'Incremental' write type instead of SAO/DAO.

When drives are having problems burning that can sometimes get around it.

No problems here either.

If 10/10 work on SP2 and 10/10 fail on SP3 then it would appear your ide/atapi driver is messed up.

ImgBurn follows the MMC specs which are nothing to do with drivers, the OS or anything else.

It should burn equally well under any operating system that you can get it running under.

Personally I'd try the drive with some 8x Taiyo Yuden TYG02 discs and if it's still failing then I'd throw it in the bin. The 105 pretty much belongs in a museum now.

Using a Pioneer DVR-106D I can confirm the same problem. Using "Incremental burn" fixed it for CDs and DVDs. Thanks for that!

BTW, this is my "work PC," so I don't get to choose the hardware. At home, I use nothing slower than 16X DVD burners.
