Paco Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 If I successfully create an ISO file of mp3s and try to write it to a CD-R with ImgBurn 2.4.0.1 or previous version, I get: W 10:34:19 Failed to Write Sectors 0 - 31 - Reason: Illegal Mode For This Track I can write DVD+Rs no problem. Nero has no problems and even the last version of DVD Decrypter can write it no problem. Anyone have any insights? The drive is a PLEXTOR DVDR PX-740A 1.02 (USB). The media is Verbatim 40X (Manufacturer: Prodisc Technology Inc.) though this shouldn't matter.

Under the 'Settings->Write' tab, the 'Write Mode' was set to 'DVD', by default I believe, because I never would have had reason to change it. I have only written DVDs up til now. I changed it to 'Auto' and now it writes and verifies the CD-R just fine. Thanks for making me look CAREFULLY at the log.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 It defaults to 'Auto' so something else must have messed with it if there's no chance that you did (even accidentally).

I'm glad that that is the default. Maybe I inadvertently changed it on a previous version not thinking I would have any need to burn CD-Rs.
