I 16:36:21 Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 3) I 16:36:21 Total Physical Memory: 785,908 KB - Available: 381,140 KB I 16:36:21 Initialising SPTI... I 16:36:21 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 16:36:21 Found 1 DVD-ROM and 1 DVD
mmalves Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 I 16:39:23 Destination Device: [1:0:0] OPTORITE DVD RW DD0201 2.60 (F:) (ATA)I 16:39:23 Destination Media Type: DVD+R (Disc ID: CMC MAG-M01-00) (Speeds: 1x, 2.4x) Your burner is pretty old and you're using some of the lowest quality media known to man. That's not a good combination You'll have more chance of success using Taiyo Yuden 8x or Verbatim 8x blanks. Or maybe you should invest in a new burner, which is pretty cheap nowadays and also ensures better quality burns
cuber351 Posted June 21, 2008 Author Posted June 21, 2008 Yeah i figured it was bad media. Memorex and Maxell works pretty good though. Like I said my friend just gave these to me for burning some dvds for him so he'll have to get a different blank dvd's. Also if i bought a better burner and tried burning at 20x would it work without fail? Uncle has an 18x burner and he gets worthless dvds if he burns it that high but at a lower speed it works fine. I know my walmart has a Lite-on dvd burner that burns dual layer. So i might get that.
mmalves Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Just because you have a 20x burner doesn't mean you need to burn at 20x. To get good burns at high speed you also have to use good quality blanks, such as the ones made by Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden. Burning at 8x or 12x usually gives the best results.
cuber351 Posted June 21, 2008 Author Posted June 21, 2008 im thinking that this is the burner at walmart although im not sure, would this one be a good purchase? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16827106228

Cynthia Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Make sure you put the jumper at the back end of the writer in the same position as your previous writer.
cuber351 Posted June 21, 2008 Author Posted June 21, 2008 Yeah I know what I'm doing when it comes to installing stuff. New burner works fine.
