Cynthia Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Hi and welcome to the forum, Sierra! Is it a brand new disc or has it been heavily used before?
Sierra Posted June 23, 2008 Author Posted June 23, 2008 It's a brand new disc. I've tried other discs as well and the same thing comes up. Thanks for the welcome.
Cynthia Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 There is a later firmware LL0D http://www.liteonit.com.tw/global/index.ph...&Itemid=154 Might be worth a try to update If you update it No disc in the device Tray closed All other programs closed
mmalves Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Look for updated drivers for your motherboard's chipset, since it seems the format/erase command is being blocked before reaching the drive.
Sierra Posted June 23, 2008 Author Posted June 23, 2008 I got the updated firmware for the drive but it still isn't formatting so it can burn. How do I find an updated driver for my motherboard's chipset?
mmalves Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Use SIW to discover your motherboard brand and model, then Google for the manufacturer's website: there you'll find the latest drivers for all your motherboard's devices
Sierra Posted June 23, 2008 Author Posted June 23, 2008 Ok I found out the motherboard is ASUS P5B and I downloaded what I think is the latest driver and installed it but it didn't make a difference either.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 The drive must be on the jmicron controller as the 965 chipset doesn't have an IDE port. You need to make sure you're running the latest motherboard bios first and then installed the latest driver from here: ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/jmb36x/Win2k_xp_Vista/
