azdood Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Hello - I'm looking for a good deal for a new DVD/CD RW drive that supports both + and -. Awhile back one of you showed me a great deal at Newegg but it has been discontinued and I just now can afford to get one. I'd really appreciate your help with this since I don't know one brand from another. Thanks
LOCOENG Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Pioneer 215D SATA $30 + $9 shipping Pioneer 115D (IDE) $32 + $9 shipping. NEC/Optiarc 7200S (SATA) $24 free shipping NEC/Optiarc 7200A (IDE) $25 + $9 shipping
azdood Posted July 2, 2008 Author Posted July 2, 2008 Great. Thanks very much. I really appreciate it. David
LOCOENG Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 No problem...enjoy. I gave you links to both IDE and SATA models for each burner because you didn't state what your system could handle.
azdood Posted July 3, 2008 Author Posted July 3, 2008 It's IDE. That's really thoughtful of you. Thank you again.
azdood Posted July 3, 2008 Author Posted July 3, 2008 Then again, I'm not sure. I thought it was IDE but looked and couldn't find that info. Where would I find that? It was'nt in the 'properties' file.
Cynthia Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Look at the cables that connects your current burner. The red one is SATA and the huge one is PATA/IDE.
azdood Posted July 3, 2008 Author Posted July 3, 2008 Thank you. Is there any other way of finding out other than taking my tower cover off? David
LOCOENG Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 You will have to take it off to install the new drive....are you replacing your old drive or adding too? Open Imgburn in read mode and copy/paste the info from there into your next post.
azdood Posted July 4, 2008 Author Posted July 4, 2008 I will be replacing my current - screwed up - drive with the Pioneer Locoeng recommended. I looked up my old drive at Dell and found out that it is indeed an IDE drive. Nothing to post from IMGBurn yet since I'm shut down until the new drive arrives. I really apprecite the help all of you have given. Thanks so much. David
