lagladney Posted July 16, 2008 Author Posted July 16, 2008 09:45:41 Found 1 DVD-ROM/CD-RW! you need a dvd burner to transfer them to full size dvd's. if you have another drive on another pc maybe try reading it in that Oh....I'm working on my work pc right now---only one drive. But at home, I have two drives----one of which is labeled DVD-ROM. Does that mean I have a DVD burner? I know I can watch DVDs on my home pc Sorry I am clueless about this stuff. At home I tried using the software that came with my video camera (Nero xpress) and couldn't get that to work. I copied the video files to my hard drive, but when I tried to burn them to a DVD-RW---it didn't work. The only option in the destination drive drop down was (Image Recorder DVD). Shouldn't my E Drive (my DVD-ROM) be in the destination drive drop down. I also tried dragging and dropping the files from my hard drive to the DVD-ROM and nothing happened. Plus my pc was running super slow after installing Nero. Should I try Imgburn at home or am I wasting my time? I really appreciate your help!!!
cornholio7 Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 unfortunately you can't write to a dvd-rom you will need a writer, they arent very expensive and may give you more luck trying to read the disc. can't hurt to try imgburn at home , i haven't had nero on any of my pc's for a long time , imgburn never fails my needs
lagladney Posted July 16, 2008 Author Posted July 16, 2008 unfortunately you can't write to a dvd-rom you will need a writer, they arent very expensive and may give you more luck trying to read the disc So the dvd burner/writer is a separate drive that I need to purchase. And I will put the full size dvd I want to write to in this drive....correct? Do you know what a reasonable price would be for a burner? And I'm guessing it just hooks up to a port in my pc, right? Thanks so much for your help!
cornholio7 Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 if it is a normal drive you may as well swap it out for a new dvd writer, its pretty easy to do. price? that will depend on your region i suppose, are you in USA/Europe or? if we know the region we can link to sites

My computer was purchased at Best Buy back in 2002. I am on the east coast of the USA----NJ to be exact. Would it be best to just upgrade at this point and include a dvd burner?

LOCOENG Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 I 09:46:16 Read Speed (Data/Audio): MAX / 8x Lowering your read speed may give you some joy too, but all in all you will need a burner. The one that corny linked you too is an excellent drive and I have it's SATA brother. You can also find good deals at NewEgg.com and usually find something with free shipping....Lite-On, Pioneer 115D, NEC/Optiarc 7200A, Samsung 203 (I'm not sure what the IDE equivalant is) are a few good brands. I'd give you links but the Egg is blocked for at work.
