rodriguezotto Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Can I use IMGBURN to make a copy of the Recovery DVD for my computer's operating system? I know I can create an ISO image of it, but I'm not sure if this is the correct way to go about it. Any help would be appreciated.
mmalves Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 If it isn't protected then ImgBurn can copy it just fine
rodriguezotto Posted August 3, 2008 Author Posted August 3, 2008 Well, I seem to be having a problem with this. I created an ISO image of the Recovery disc and it is saved on my hard drive. When I attempt to write the image to a disc, IMGBURN won't allow me to select the iso image, but instead says I have selected the wrong file and need to select the MDS file. It won't let me add the ISO image. Please help.
Cynthia Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Do you have a .mds file of that ISO file? How did you create the ISO image? By the 'Read' mode in ImgBurn?
rodriguezotto Posted August 3, 2008 Author Posted August 3, 2008 Yes, I used the Read mode. I selected the option "Create Image File From Disc"
Cynthia Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Did the read mode create two files? filename.iso filename.mds
rodriguezotto Posted August 3, 2008 Author Posted August 3, 2008 Yes. An mds and iso file were created.
Cynthia Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Then can't you select the .mds file when you want to burn the disc?
rodriguezotto Posted August 3, 2008 Author Posted August 3, 2008 The mds file is only 11 KB in size, while the iso file is 5 GB. Isn't the iso the correct one to be backing up?
Cynthia Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 The .mds file contains the information about what .iso file to back up/write to the disc.
rodriguezotto Posted August 3, 2008 Author Posted August 3, 2008 I'll give it a shot. Thanks for your quick responses.
