Hi, i have been told ImgBurn has this feature but whenever i try to create a CD it wont play on my old CD player which definitely doesn't support MP3s. Am i doing something wrong? Thanks.

Imgburn will burn an audio CD for you from MP3 files see the GUIDE HERE

or if you have a player that WILL play MP3 files, then just make a data disc of MP3's .

The discs you made, do they play on your correctly on your PC ?

Cheers for the guide, i must have been searching for the wrong things!

The CDs worked fine on my PC so i guess they were data CDs...

That CUE file is right, so what's the problem now? By the way if you moved the MP3s out of that folder then it won't work, since that CUE file has full pathnames pointing to the MP3s.

I did a simple upgrade to the latest version and it seemed to get rid of the errors. I burnt the CUE but the resulting CD didn't work on my CD player or my PC.

I have the K-Lite Codec Pack which includes:

ffdshow audio decoder

ffdshow VFW interface

ffdshow video decoder

Codec packs are bad because they install a lot of filters you'll never use. Anyway, does that CD play on a standalone DVD player or other players?

Dont i feel stupid!

So, i tried again and the CD went okay and played on my PC but not at all on my CD players. Said "No Disc".

You might like to try slowing the burn speed down to 16x or 24x too. It'll produce a better burn.

Taiyo Yuden seem to make the best CDR's too. I ditched Verbatims (normally great for optical media) in favour of them a while ago and I've never looked back.

you got a dvd player you could try the cd in as well and can you try adding making your own .cue for some mp3 files and make audio cd from those and try

Just tried the CD in my DVD player and the CD light lit up but it wouldn't play any music.

I am using cheap CDs but i didn't think it would stop the CDs from playing altogether, when i used to use iTunes to burn the same CDs they worked perfectly every time.

If the drive can't read the disc it'll stop them from playing.

Drives aren't able to read discs if the disc is just generally crap or burn quality wasn't any good - and that's totally down to the drive/media/firmware.

If the PC is able to see it as an audio cd then there's nothing actually wrong with the way it was created.

As mentioned in my previous post, try burning at 16x or 24x. That should improve the quality of the burn and maybe your more picky players will be able to initialise the disc properly and play it.

Thanks for your help! From now on i will burn everything slower. I have also just bought a new CD player and it seems to play all the CDs that my old one wouldn't, so i wont be having any issue with this anymore.
