i have been using imageburn and making dvd's for a while now , and never had any problems. i recently updated my version of imgburn, and now it does not seem to work properly. i use dvdflick to author the dvd and imgburn to write it, i insert the dvd into the player, and it will work for about 10 min or so then freeze up. i have cleaned both the dvd player and my dvd burner with a store bought cleaner disc, and no luck, i was wondering if there was some setting that i have missed from the old version to the new one, or if my burner might be out of wack if that is possible. i just don't see while it would play for 10 min and then freeze . i still have disks that i burner a year ago and they seem to play all the way through. any suggestions or advice would be appreciated!

The question might be how good the burn was.

I would go and test it by scanning it with Nero DiscSpeed (free).

http://www.cdspeed2000.com/

  1. Start the program
  2. Select the tab 'Disc Quality'
  3. Select 8x as speed
  4. Press the button 'Start'

Not all writers are good scanners - but it should show you a hint of the quality of the burn.

Might be that not all writers are good scanners, so it could be that your writer is disabled due to that fact in that program.

You have 'Verify' disabled in ImgBurn, it would be a good thing to enable it for the next writes.

Start ImgBurn and go to Write mode and check mark the option 'Verify'.

The next time you write something, it should then also perform the verifying stage.

If you play your burned disc in your computer, does it also freeze then?

cynthia, i found the scan disc option on the nero speed , scanned a disc and it showing me errors and bad sectors at about 65% complete , and yes the discs work fine in my lappy, i had verify turned off cause alot of times i am away when it burns and it ejects the tray, figured it would allow dirt and dust in there. here is a snippet from a disc burned with the verify on , got a error at 67% , clicked on try again and it continued till the end.

you say you updated ImgBurn , but your log shows your still using an older version ,v 2.4.1.0 . current version is v 2.4.2.0

i would'nt say your using the best +R discs in the world either, so i still reckon its a case of your player does not like those discs, especially as they play fine on your laptop . time to look about for something thats compatable with all your players.

EDIT , just read back your log files,

change the write speed to 8x instead of 16x and MAX

in verify tab , change read speed for data/Audio to 4 or 8 instead of Max as well

I 21:42:22 Write Speed: 16x

Only supported write speed for that combination of media/writer is 4x and 8x.

I 21:53:13 Average Write Rate: 7,272 KB/s (5.3x) - Maximum Write Rate: 10,870 KB/s (7.8x)

Might try 4x.

yes vovlo i am using my laptop to burn these discs, i am going to town today, will see about getting a few better discs, what brand should i look for, will also try to slow down the write speeds too see if that works

thanks canman

wierd that they say only 8x supported, says 16x on the disc itself

That's because the burner itself only burns up to 8x :)

The best blanks are made by Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden

well folks , i am at a loss here, upgraded to newest version 2.4.2, bought new discs, and tried to burn movie, again it plays fine in the player that burned it , but when i try to play it in dvd player it freezes up after 10 min , also it errors out on the verify , always at 67% , (which i find weird), i was wondering if my burner is getting weak, (is that possible). it is a couple of year old now, or is there settings that i may be missing , from the older version to the newer version. any more ideas or help would be appreciated.

thanks
