Killer Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 So heres the deal. My drive shows up as Slimtype DVD A DS8A1P in a HP Pavilion dv6629wm part of the dv6000 series. HP support has no solution for me. There are no firmware updates, and firmware that i have found pretty much kills the drive. I have tried several types of media including verbatim. The drive will burn cds dvd+r and reads everything just fine. I also have a Pavilion dv6626us it to has a DVD+DL burner which works. When i take that drive that works and put it in this laptop it still works. This one that doesnt burn DL when swaped will still not burn DL disks. I have cleaned the laser lens properly. I have never been able to burn a DL disk and the computer is about 6 months old. here is a log from imgburn. I 23:55:07 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! I 23:55:07 Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition (6.0, Build 6000) I 23:55:07 Total Physical Memory: 981,312 KB - Available: 440,380 KB I 23:55:07 Initialising SPTI... I 23:55:07 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 23:55:07 Found 1 DVD
mmalves Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Can you provide the log from when you've tried with Verbatim media?
Killer Posted August 16, 2008 Author Posted August 16, 2008 I will have to go buy more looks like i used em all up with my other drive. I'll try to get some today but usually i have to order them online as the local stores are limited due to my location.
LOCOENG Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 No need to burn another disc to get the log as the logs are already on your PC...go to Tools -> Imgburn logs. The Verbatim burn will list your media as MKM001 or MKM003 depending on which Verbatims you were using.
FredD Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 I have the same problem with my HP Pavilion dv6663cl. Was a solution ever found?
mmalves Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 I have the same problem with my HP Pavilion dv6663cl. Was a solution ever found? Have you tried with Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x (MKM-001-00 dye) Made in Singapore blanks? A log from one of such burns also would help.
