Monolithic Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I'm new to understanding DVD quality and did a lot of reading last night in the DVD section and then checked out that sit with all the disc IDs and whatnot. I also seen a link to blankmedia.ca and checked it out. Well they're selling 25 packs of Verbatim DVD-R's for $2. Is there a catch or something I'm just missing? Is it just because it is a slow burn speed? I emailed them about the disc ID and they replied and said they may be CMC or MCC.
LOCOENG Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 http://blankmedia.ca/proddetail3.asp?id=1272 That is $2 per disc which comes out to $50 and is about in line with DL media. It says 2.4X and the picture is for DVD+R, but I think it's DVD+R DL media. If not these aren't worth the money.
Monolithic Posted August 17, 2008 Author Posted August 17, 2008 (edited) It says 8 cents a disc though on the site. Edited August 17, 2008 by Monolithic
Cynthia Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 2/25=0.08 Depending on how well your burner deals with those discs, it sounds as a great deal.
dontasciime Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Very old media +r @2.4x if I lived where you do I would get some for a laugh, not going to break the bank $58.50 for 30 tubs Might pay you also to dig out an older dvd burner from a cupboard or a mates cupboard as a modern one might not offer 2.4x although you might find with a certain hacked firmware they can be oversped to 4x or 8x without any degradation of quality. Wonder if they ship to UK Answer is NO : WTF are they doing on the world wide web when they only ship to US and Canada ....F T they have lost over $100 was gonna buy 60 tubs
lfcrule1972 Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 I still can't believe that in this day and age there are media sellers who won't ship to Europe
Monolithic Posted August 19, 2008 Author Posted August 19, 2008 What is the best way to find out what speeds my DVD writers will record at? In ImgBurn it just shows up every possible speed. Both my DVD writers are Writemasters. One is DL and one is not.
mmalves Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 With ImgBurn in Write mode and a blank disc in the burner, look at the Information pane on the right side of ImgBurn's window: there will be listed the Supported Write Speeds allowed by your media/firmware/burner combination
mmalves Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 You could also use the Automatic Write Speed feature to always burn each type of media at their best speed
LOCOENG Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 It seems like I misread something from the link I posted...
