kaport Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Hi, I just started with ImgBurn and I'm stuck with the first problem. I can't erase a Sony DVD-RW with some data in. I have set "DMA if available" in device manager for IDE ATAPI controller and "Auto" in BIOS but the problem is still there. What can I check? Thanks Here is the log: I 20:25:47 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started!I 20:25:47 Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional (5.0, Build 2195 : Service Pack 4)I 20:25:47 Total Physical Memory: 392.688 KB - Available: 117.240 KBW 20:25:47 Drive D:\ (FAT32) does not support single files > 4 GB in size.W 20:25:47 Drive E:\ (FAT32) does not support single files > 4 GB in size.I 20:25:47 Initialising SPTI...I 20:25:47 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...I 20:25:48 Found 1 DVD
Night_Raven Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Maybe try at a higher speed: 2.4x or 4x, whatever your medium is certified at.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 You might just be using an RW that the drive's firmware simply doesn't support.
dontasciime Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Those are 1X Rw from I think the middle ages. Maybe get some modern media for your modern writer There is also a newer firmware for your drive http://rapidshare.com/files/140617639/SH-S202J_SB02.rar
kaport Posted August 29, 2008 Author Posted August 29, 2008 Thank you all. I tried to erase a (more) modern TDK-RW 4x and it works fine, so my burner works I have also updated firmware directly from samsung site but nothing to do with "medieval" Sony-RW 1x..... if I can't find a "medieval" burner I can throw them away Bye
