First steps -> erasing a dvd-rw

Hi, I just started with ImgBurn and I'm stuck with the first problem.

I can't erase a Sony DVD-RW with some data in.

 

I have set "DMA if available" in device manager for IDE ATAPI controller and "Auto" in BIOS but the problem is still there.

 

What can I check?

Maybe try at a higher speed: 2.4x or 4x, whatever your medium is certified at.

You might just be using an RW that the drive's firmware simply doesn't support.

Those are 1X Rw from I think the middle ages.

 

Maybe get some modern media for your modern writer

I tried to erase a (more) modern TDK-RW 4x and it works fine, so my burner works

I have also updated firmware directly from samsung site but nothing to do with "medieval" Sony-RW 1x..... if I can't find a "medieval" burner I can throw them away
