The first two attempts were very successful, but not for the third. The settings were the default ones. Is my DVD Drive dying? For your information, it's a HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4082N and it's able to read but not write at all. If it can't write at all, you have either a batch of dodgy dics (unlikely) or a drive that can't write to those discs (look for a firmware update) or the drive is fcucked. Also try burning at 4x to see if it works better. As blutach said, check with your laptop manufacturer for a firmware update for your burner. You may also want to try Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden 8x-rated blanks, as you might have more luck using them on a laptop burner. If after doing all this it still doesn't work, get a normal-size burner in an external enclosure, as laptop burners are too picky about the media they like and don't have too long of a lifespan Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Is it actually suitable to burn an ISO or whatever image file on a DVD+R? Because I tried burning a PS2 image on a DVD+R before, and it isn't really responsive to my PS2. mmalves Posted September 2, 2008 Share Posted September 2, 2008 My PS2s (two 39001 and one 50001) work fine with both DVD-R and DVD+R, but I've heard a lot of stories where PS2s worked better with one format than with the other.
