I 22:00:39 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 22:00:39 Found 1 DVD
LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 It doesn't look like your burner supports those discs. Try hunting down a firmware update for the drive, that may fix the problem.
mmalves Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 I 22:02:41 Destination Device: [1:0:0] HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H50L 1.00 (D:) (ATA) There's firmware 1.02 available for your burner at http://au.lgservice.com/ (it's in Device Driver -> DVD-ROM(Writer) -> page 2). remove any disc and close the tray before updating. Reboot after the update has finished.
lfcrule1972 Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Personally speaking I would stay away from DVD-R DL's, the -R Dual Layer discs seem to be very problematic. All my dual layer burns are on Verbatim DVD+R DLs, the plus format is accepted by all my players in the house and has never given me any problems.
pmfago Posted September 10, 2008 Author Posted September 10, 2008 Thanks to everyone who tried to help me. I've upgraded the firmware. But I still have problems... Do you think my drive is defective? As you can see... I 20:01:02 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! I 20:01:02 Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 3) I 20:01:02 Total Physical Memory: 1.179.120 KB - Available: 727.560 KB I 20:01:02 Initialising SPTI... I 20:01:02 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 20:01:02 Found 1 DVD
mmalves Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Try with Verbatim DVD+R Dual Layer 2.4x (MKM-001-00 dye) Made in Singapore blanks and it should work As lfcrule1972 said above, DVD-R DL media isn't as reliable as DVD+R DL media
lfcrule1972 Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Unless you have seen problems like this with the drive before I would bet that it's the DVD-R DL discs, I only have one burner that liked them enough to complete the burn and even then I wouldn't use them for anything as my DVD players won't play them.....
