Try burning at a different speed - i.e 2.4x or 4x.

The firmware looks up-to-date but you've got one of those dodgy drives that don't really exist.

If the verbs are genuine, from Singapore and still won't burn at 2.4x or 4x then you might have to consider ditching the drive and getting another one.

Hi friends, I have the same error message like jonnyboy180.

ImgBurn says: Optimum Power Calibration Failed! - Reason: Power Calibration Area Error

Maybe the error come from a update? ImgBur burns earlier mp3 CD's, avi DVD's, Photo CD/DVD correct - no problems. yesterday after four weeks I would burn a iso file to DVD. My DVD-RW is minimum 8 month old. it is a Optiarc DVD RW AD-7191S with Lightscribe (maybe SonyNEC).

my system: Vista32 home prem, 3 GB RAM, AMD Athlon Dual Core 5000+ (2x2.6 GHz), 500 GB HDD, ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0, DVD-Rom from Tshiba and DVD-RW from Optiarc

best regards

The forced OPC function is disabled by default in 2.4.2.0 (yours is still enabled because you upgraded) so that would get rid of that exact error... trouble is, the drive may still do some sort of OPC itself when the burn starts and it may still return the 'Power Calibration Area Error' error code as a result.

You can't avoid that because it's totally down to the drive / firmware / media combo.
