Help with PS3 playback problem with burned BD movie 50G BD-RE

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post my problem but I hope someone can possibly help me.

I recently ripped and burned 3 Blu ray movies onto a TDK 50G BD-RE but only 2 of them will playback on my PS3 (20 Gig version) with the 2.30 firmware.

Harry Potter Prisoner of Azkaban (36Gig file size) played fine in my PS3, but both Forbidden Kingdom (40Gig file size) and Live Free or Die Hard (42 Gig file size) seem just show a blank screen. The PS3 recognizes the disc and it seems like it's playing but I never get any picture nor can I progress to any menus or chapters. They both however play fine on my PC using Cyberlink PowerDVD that came with my Blu ray burner.

Speaking of which I have a LG GBW-H20L burner (not sure of what firmware though) and I used AnyDVD 6.4.6.9 to rip the movies. I am using Windows XP Sp3 with Directx 9.0c installed and not much else is updated in terms of OS. I followed a guide I found on the net on how to use ImgBurn and below are the steps I used.

Rip movie to hard drive using AnyDVD.

Open ImgBurn 2.4.2.0 in build mode and select the BDMV folder as the source to burn.

Using a TDK 50Gig BD-RE I burn the all of the contents of the BDMV folder onto the disc.

Once completed I check the disc for the BDMV folder and Certificate folder (its always created by ImgBurn with no problem.)

Play once on PC with Cyberlink PowerDVD then try it on my PS3.

As I said Harry Potter worked fine but not the other two movies. I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong in the burning process or if I need to update the firmware on my PS3 or LG burner or should I do this all on Windows Vista?? Do I need to use UDF 2.60 instead of 2.50?

A copy of my last burn log is pasted below. I would appreciate any help or suggestions anyone could offer. Thanks.

Why don't you update your PS3 firmware? I thought it was on 2.43 now or something.

I guess I haven't updated it because so far I haven't really needed to and especially after the major problems Sony had with the 2.40 update I'm very leery to install any new firmware versions unless I really need to.

I was just hoping perhaps I was doing something wrong during the burning process, but I guess you're right it's time to update my PS3 firmware.

I play a lot of online games with the PS3 and therefore have no choice but to update my PS3. I updated to 2.40 when it first came out and like all my PSN buddies had no problems with it at all. I am also a regular on the Sony PS3 forums and whilst it's true there were a few issues with the fw update Sony fixed them real quick and there is no reason to not be on the latest firmware now :)
