cbraxton Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 I recently had to reload a Windows XP system due to hard drive failure. Prior to this, ImgBurn was working fine. After reloading, ImgBurn (version 2.4.2.0) now fails every time it tries to verify a DVD+R disc. On the same system using the same media, image, and burner, Nero version 6 works fine -- it burns and verifies the disc without incident. The computer is a few years old, a Dell Pentium-4 3.0GHz system with 2GB RAM and (now) a 500GB SATA hard drive. The DVD burner is an ATAPI Teac DVD+RW model DV-W58E. (Have already tried replacing the cable.) Discs are Philips DVD+R that ImgBurn IDs as CMC MAG-M01-00. What happens is that the disc appears to burn OK, and the verification pass runs until it gets to the 99% done mark, then starts issuing the diagnostic message "I/O Error, ScsiStatus: 0x02, Check Condition, Logical Block Address out of Range." The resulting disc plays without any obvious errors. The log file follows, any help in figuring out what's going on here, and why ImgBurn is bombing out under that same conditions in which Nero works, would be greatly appreciated! ============================================== ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 - Log ; Thursday, 09 October 2008, 07:41:24 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 07:07:12 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Use ImgBurn to verify one of the Nero written discs and show me that log please. btw, if you've reloaded ImgBurn 2.4.2.0 from scratch, the 'DVD+R Reserve Track' option shouldn't be enabled by default and your log shows that it is. In any case, the program has written up to and including sector 2285853 and yet your drive is claiming anything after 2285839 is out of range... that can't possibly be true. Put the ImgBurn burnt disc back in the drive and copy + paste all the disc info text from the panel on the right.

I don't think I changed any settings other than the log file location, to have that put in a more convenient place. (Should I uncheck the "Reserve Track" option and try again?) The Nero-burned disc was verified without errors, the log file and the disc info for the ImgBurn disc is below. (I'm pretty sure I have it right, I made two copies of the same disc, one with Nero and the other with ImgBurn and tried to keep straight which is which! Have to leave for work, but can do more tests later if needed...) ================================= ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 - Log ; Thursday, 09 October 2008, 08:46:46 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 08:31:40 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Going by that disc info, the last sector is 2285871 which is more than the last one ImgBurn wrote to (2285853 - and I'd expect that to be the case so don't worry!), so I really can't see what the problem is. If it knows the disc has 2285871 sectors available for reading, why is it saying 2285853 is out of range?! Try verifying the disc again now.
