mbiesheuvel Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 (edited) Hello all, First i want to say Imgburn is the best thing i have ever used. But now i have a problem... It's not only with Imgburn but with ALL burning programs (Nero, Alcohol etc). I have Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit. And 2 Asus DRW-2014L1T (Firmware 1.02) drives. I just bought them and tested them with XP. All worked. Now I installed Vista and i have a problem with burning DVD-R media. I use Verbatim media. Burning DVD+R works fine but when I burn DVD-R I get the next error at 97%: ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 - Log ; zondag, 12 oktober 2008, 13:49:50 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 13:02:52 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! cornholio7 Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 13:03:28 DeviceIoControl(FSCTL_LOCK_VOLUME) Failed! - Reason: Toegang geweigerd what is the reason in english? check your filter drivers, tools-> filter driver load order
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Speed the burn up a bit. You might find your drive is better geared towards burning that media at higher speeds than lower ones.

Cause also when that error wasnt there it went failed Check the attachment for it. Speed the burn up a bit. cornholio7 Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Destination Device: [3:0:0] ASUS DRW-2014L1T 1.02 (I:) (Fibre) fibre?? what is it set up as in bios?
mmalves Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Where are your Verbatim blanks made? Singapore? India? Elsewhere? Anyway, if the drive can't burn them at 8x or 12x I'd make a high tech "optical paperweight" (doorstop is another option) with it
mbiesheuvel Posted October 15, 2008 Author Posted October 15, 2008 Destination Device: [3:0:0] ASUS DRW-2014L1T 1.02 (I:) (Fibre) fibre?? what is it set up as in bios? What does fibre mean?? I just reinstalled my pc with xp and guess what... It wont burn in there either now :s. I am totaly confused about it... Mbe those verbatims are not so good as I thought.. Or I just have bought the most crappiest dvd burners there are.... How can I see where those verbatims are made then?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Fibre is just another form of drive connectivity. It's used by enterprise hard disks and certainly not something an optical drive should be reporting is in use.... and that's down to your drivers. Unless you have an Intel chipset motherboard, don't install any board/controller drivers from the manufacturer. A basic install of XP SP3 should work just fine.

I just use Vista Ultimate SP1 and put those drives in. Used the default drivers that came with Vista too... So what did I do wrong??? And how can I change it back to the good thing?
techman Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 (edited) Fibre I believe is how all SATA drive types are seen Edited October 16, 2008 by techman
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Nope, it's not how any are seen! They're either ATA, SATA, SCSI or RAID. Fiber is when your drivers are screwed.
mbiesheuvel Posted October 16, 2008 Author Posted October 16, 2008 Well do you know the place where I can find decent drivers then
mbiesheuvel Posted October 16, 2008 Author Posted October 16, 2008 New log and error.... I 21:49:37 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! mbiesheuvel Posted October 16, 2008 Author Posted October 16, 2008 By the way: I checked my Verbatims on the web. I have those: Media color and text: Silver Verbatim DVD Recordable 4.7 GB 120 Min 16X Certified So it are real Verbatims... There should not be any problem burning those .
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Can we see a log from a 8x or 12x burn of the Verbatims please.

LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Ok and 12x, 16x and 20x? I can't believe ASUS would release a drive with firmware so bad that it won't even write to Verbatims! That said, I don't like their DVD-R that much anyway. I'd always take Verbatim DVD+R over their DVD-R any day.
LOCOENG Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 That said, I don't like their DVD-R that much anyway. I'd always take Verbatim DVD+R over their DVD-R any day Ditto, I haven't bought a -R in years.
mbiesheuvel Posted October 17, 2008 Author Posted October 17, 2008 I already tried the maximum speed with nero but i will try it with imgburn too tonight when i am at home. And i need those -r for my nintendo wii... its better to use -r for it because +r wont work with the newest games.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Try some Taiyo Yuden DVD-R 8x (TYG02 dye) instead then.
mbiesheuvel Posted October 17, 2008 Author Posted October 17, 2008 you mean those? http://www.opus.nl/produkten_detail.asp?l=ned&pdid=11181
LOCOENG Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 That is close enough...he suggested the 8X version, which may be slightly better but you should do good with the 16X Yudens.
mbiesheuvel Posted October 18, 2008 Author Posted October 18, 2008 Well where can i buy them in the netherlands
