Martijn423 Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 (edited) I tried to burn an Xbox 360 game for the first time. I have no experience doing this so I'm probably asking a dumb question. I tried to burn Fable 2 but I got this error: http://img395.imageshack.us/my.php?image=imgburn3mt1.jpg Can anyone help me? PS: For some reason I cannot post the image, sorry for that. Cynthia Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 Hi and welcome to the forum, Martijn423! No problems to post that image if you use this syntax: [IMG=http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/3030/imgburnof3.jpg] Looks as the writer can't read the burned disc. A verify fail. Can you post the full log from that failed burn? You'll find it here: Main Menu -> Help -> ImgBurn Logs

Cynthia Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 There is a later firmware version for that writer, it might give you a better burn. ASUS DRW-1608P2S firmware version 1.41 ASUS_DRW_1608P2S_FW141EU.ZIP No disc in the burner and the tray closed while you update it. The DL media you are using is not the of the highest quality so it could be the reason for the write error. The version 1.39 added a lot of new stuff: ASUS DRW-1608P2S firmware version 1.39Support new DVD-R media. Support new DVD-R (DL) media. Support new DVD-RW media. Support new DVD+R media. Support new DVD+R (DL) media. Improve writing quality.
Martijn423 Posted October 26, 2008 Author Posted October 26, 2008 I left Imgburn open. So I should close it now, then update the firmware and try again with a new disc?
Cynthia Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 Yes. Don't forget to remove the disc before flashing it.
Martijn423 Posted October 26, 2008 Author Posted October 26, 2008 Why is that? So I can throw this disc away? Bummer
Cynthia Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 If the disc can't be read - I wouldn't keep it. Also restart the computer after the flash.
Martijn423 Posted October 27, 2008 Author Posted October 27, 2008 I updated my drive with the patch cynthia posted, but I still get the same error. Can anyone help me?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Being branded by 'Philips' doesn't mean anything, it's the dye that's important and yours are using the 'RITEK-S04-66' one. The best / most compatible one is 'MKM-001-00' and you'll only find that on Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x speed discs.
