turtlemunky Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 hello, I've seen many old topics with this same problem but I never really found a solution. I have tried burning a game to these DVD-Rs, and I have burned things onto them successfully before. Recently I have been getting a problem about 60% through on verification. I have tried burning at the slowest speeds to ensure that there would be no problems, but nothing changed. This is the third time I've tried burning this specific image. 02:52:22 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! 02:52:22 Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate x64 Edition (6.0, Build 6001 : Service Pack 1) 02:52:22 Total Physical Memory: 4,191,824 KB - Available: 2,671,632 KB 02:52:22 Initialising SPTI... 02:52:22 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... 02:52:22 Found 1 DVD-ROM, 1 DVD
Cynthia Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Hi and welcome to the forum, turtlemunky! The 1x write speed is not supported in the firmware - so the writer is only using a very general writing strategy. So the slowest you should try with is 4x with that brand of media. You can see after the brands name - the supported speeds. 02:53:16 Destination Media Type: DVD-R (Disc ID: RITEKF1) (Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x, 12x, 16x) There has also been released a new firmware for that writer - SB01. You have SB00 installed. Try to update it. 02:53:16 Destination Device: [2:0:0] TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S223F SB00 (D:) (ATA) http://www.samsungodd.com/Eng/Firmware/FWD...earchWord=s223f If you update it: No disc in the tray Tray closed Restart the computer after the update I have the same burner model as you - but I never tried to burn with Ritek based media. Ritek is not considered as the greatest media on the earth.
turtlemunky Posted November 8, 2008 Author Posted November 8, 2008 (edited) Thanks for the quick response, I tried everything you suggested, but I'm getting the same error, just at 91% this time. Edited November 8, 2008 by turtlemunky
Cynthia Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Have you tried burning at 8x or 12x? Could be worth a try. The burning results do differ a lot depending on the selected speed with this writer.
turtlemunky Posted November 8, 2008 Author Posted November 8, 2008 Just tried at 8x, but I got a write error this time 12:03:52 Destination Media Type: DVD-R (Disc ID: RITEKF1) (Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x, 12x, 16x) 12:03:52 Destination Media Sectors: 2,298,496 12:03:52 Write Mode: DVD 12:03:52 Write Type: DAO 12:03:52 Write Speed: 8x 12:03:52 Link Size: Auto 12:03:52 Test Mode: No 12:03:52 OPC: No 12:03:52 BURN-Proof: Enabled 12:03:53 Filling Buffer... Cynthia Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 How is this SATA writer attached? Model of chip set? Latest chip set drivers installed? According to Samsung the media code is supported in the firmware: RITEKF1 16x,12x,8x,6x,4x
turtlemunky Posted November 8, 2008 Author Posted November 8, 2008 Actually, I guess it was a problem with the media I was using. I found some Memorex DVD+Rs and the writing process worked flawlessly. Thanks for the help everyone
