bururning to dvd-r

Am new to the forum so I appreciate any help you can give. I backed up a movie to my hard drive using dvd dycrypter and I have used imgburn to burn the movies to a DL DVD-R before. However, tonight I tried to burn to a single layer DVD-R (4.7gb) and it says not enough room. I used to use DVD Shrink for regular dvd's but it doesnt work right so I figured I would try to use imgburn.....is there anyway I can use this program to compress on to a regular dvd-r or do I need to continue to use DL DVD-r's..

ImgBurn can't compress video.
