Tch0rT Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Hello, I have a Samsung SH-S203N DVD burner (with the latest SB01 firmware) that I've had since feb 08 and I finally decided to buy some DVD DL to burn. Office Depot had a 15 disc spindle of Memorex DVD+D DL for $8.99 so I thought I'd bite. I guess I'm getting bit back. They show up as RITEK-S04-66 which I'm gathering are garbage.. anyway no matter what program I use Nero, Imgburn, or Blindwrite I get coasters. I'm up to 5 right now and I'm getting mad. I tried the first 4 at Max speed which comes up at 8x. On the 5th one I tried 2.4x. heh Anyway here's my error log from Imgburn at 2.4x speed: I 18:46:54 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! I 18:46:54 Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate x64 Edition (6.0, Build 6001 : Service Pack 1) I 18:46:54 Total Physical Memory: 2,094,800 KB - Available: 1,003,376 KB I 18:46:54 Initialising SPTI... I 18:46:54 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 18:46:56 Found 1 DVD-ROM and 1 DVD

All I could find on the Samsung website was SB01 so I thought it was the newest. I flashed the firmware and it still has the same problem... ugh Ryan
Cynthia Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 The slowest speed the firmware supports is 4x. I 18:52:10 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: RITEK-S04-66) (Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x)

I 18:52:10 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: RITEK-S04-66) (Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x) I set it to 4x. I got to 24% until it failed. All the other times it failed before 5%-6%. Nothing like wasting money. Ryan
Cynthia Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Sounds as you need to get the discs mentioned in post #2.
