(This function is for DVD+RW Media not DVD+R.) So i went to my local Best buy and purchased DVD+RW,s So now with the DVD+RW i get this. (Failed! Reason:Invailed Command Operation Code) so now im just confused as of to what to do now,im guessing to upgrade my driver? LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Are you on the right tab for booktyping with an LG drive (which is what HD-LT-ST is)? Hint: You're not! btw, you don't need to mess with any of that, ImgBurn booktypes to DVD-ROM automatically on LG drives now.
MikeC7 Posted January 14, 2009 Author Posted January 14, 2009 Thank YOU! is this automatic feature specific with DVD+RW's? im not very familiar with dvd burning,i appreciate this man
mmalves Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 The feature is for all +R media (i.e. DVD+R, DVD+RW and DVD+R DL) but LG burners do not support booktyping DVD+RW media.
MikeC7 Posted January 14, 2009 Author Posted January 14, 2009 Bassicly im just trying to run a backup in my Wii Simply burning an ISO on a DVD DVD+R didnt work,i get (This function is for DVD+RW Media not DVD+R) So how come LG isn't working with +R thats what im trying to figure out
Cynthia Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Have you tried to burn a regular +R disc and also made sure that the option 'Auto 'Change Book Type'' is enabled in the settings (write tab)? It sounds as you are trying to play around with the Book Type options in the Book Type department of the programs settings - as you have a LG - you shouldn't need to use those as the program will do it for you.
MikeC7 Posted January 14, 2009 Author Posted January 14, 2009 I burned an ISO to a DVD+R without messing with any settings,no luck then i just recently used a DVD+RW being notified that it would be automaticley be booktyped to DVD-ROM Here is the log that i get when i burn DVD+RW I 20:48:51 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! I 20:48:51 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition (6.0, Build 6001 : Service Pack 1) I 20:48:51 Total Physical Memory: 914,756 KB - Available: 366,816 KB I 20:48:51 Initialising SPTI... I 20:48:51 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 20:49:11 Found 1 DVD
Cynthia Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I burned an ISO to a DVD+R without messing with any settings,no luck Can you post that log? then i just recently used a DVD+RW being notified that it would be automaticley be booktyped to DVD-ROM I 21:16:20 Book Type Setting: N/A N/A = Not available function. I 21:33:31 Source Media Type: DVD+RW (Book Type: DVD+RW) (Disc ID: INFODISC-A10-01) (Speeds: 2.4x, 4x) According to the log, it's not book typed to DVD-ROM.
MikeC7 Posted January 14, 2009 Author Posted January 14, 2009 thats the solution im trying to get to it sucks! every time i try to change i get that error do you think its my driver? im so confused as to why it wont work Im Thankful for every answer!!!!!!
Cynthia Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 1. LG writer doesn't support book type on RW discs. 2. What happens when you burn a +R disc - you stated that you got no luck - could you post that log? 3. You shouldn't need to do anything with the book type settings (if you use default ones) to not get automatic book type when burning to a +R disc.
MikeC7 Posted January 14, 2009 Author Posted January 14, 2009 i still get Book Type Setting: N/A its awkward (This function is for DVD+RW Media not DVD+R) even when i switch to use DVD+RW it still doesnt work,i get the whole (Failed!Reason:Invailed Command Operation Code) Starting to bother me.Apologies if this is giving anyone a headache lol
Cynthia Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 You shouldn't need to use this function just insert a +R disc and burn it. ImgBurn should book type it automatically for you during the burning stage.
MikeC7 Posted January 14, 2009 Author Posted January 14, 2009 (edited) Im just Having bad luck with this right now,Either through auto settings, even manually changing the settings i just cant change the booktype whenever i try to load a disc up i get on the wii i get (Disc read Error 324) Just cant get it to DVD-ROM Edited January 14, 2009 by MikeC7
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 When you see this '(This function is for DVD+RW Media not DVD+R)' it's because you're trying to use the booktype command that's NOT meant for LG drives. Look at the names of the tabs in that screenshot of the booktype window, notice they all have names? BenQ, LG, LITE-ON etc Well you can't just use the functions on any of them, it doesn't work like that. You need to use the one specific to your model of drive. With your drive being an HL-DT-ST (LG), you should *ONLY* ever be on the 'LG' tab. It would appear the message on the 'Welcome' tab is the one most appropriate for you - because you do not know what you're doing. If you mess with things you don't understand, things get broken. As has been mentioned several times, ImgBurn automatically sends the command to the drive to booktype DVD+R and DVD+R DL media to DVD-ROM (LG drives don't support bitsetting on DVD+RW media). That fact that the log shows 'BookType: N/A' tells me that your drive doesn't support the booktype commands at all. Get yourself a new drive that does.
MikeC7 Posted January 14, 2009 Author Posted January 14, 2009 aw damn that sucks. much thanks in helping me understrand my situation any suggestions on a specific drive thats really good?
