Cynthia Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Hi and welcome to the forum, alex1234! You've got DMA errors. To fix that you can try a number of things... Replace the cable going to the drive (with as short a one as possible) Update the motherboard / controller drivers. Uninstall the controller within Device Manager and reboot so it finds it again (This is the DMA fix posted in the FAQ) http://forum.imgburn.com/lofiversion/index.php/t7401.html I think you should start with the the drivers for the motherboard and/or uninstall the writer and let Windows reinstall it. Have you burned anything else with success with this writer? Do you know if the chip set drivers are Nvidia on the mother board? Edit: According to the Asus page you have the latest firmware installed.
alex1234 Posted January 17, 2009 Author Posted January 17, 2009 yes , i have written many thing with this unit it has been working perfectly for almost 2 years until today
Cynthia Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Try to uninstall it as in the FAQ and restart the computer. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?s=&...dpost&p=967
alex1234 Posted January 18, 2009 Author Posted January 18, 2009 just did that now the pc is going nuts , i was in the middle of a game and it froze : guess what , the DVD-rw led was on and there was no disc inside...eventually i had to restart the system could it be the cable? i looked inside and the sata cable doesn't fit right in the unit , it's a little loose
mmalves Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Try another cable then, the shorter the better.
