smokestack88 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 I've been using ImgBurn with many brands of dvd+r and dvd-r for a while without any problems. I just recently got a pack of memorex dvd+r dl discs and on the bottom left, I get the "disc not empty"message and in the right pane the disc is being recognized as a dvd+rw. I updated my dvd drive firmware to the latest version I could find but it didn't make a difference. I tried every disc in the package without any luck. Today I got a pack of verbaitum dvd+r dl singapore discs since I read on the forums that these are the best and I'm getting the same message. Here is everything from the right panel on Imgburn. HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H54N 1.03 (ATA) Current Profile: DVD+RW Disc Information: Status: Unknown Erasable: Unknown Formatted: Unknown Sessions: Unknown Sectors: 2,298,496 Size: 4,707,319,808 bytes Time: 510:48:46 (MM:SS:FF) Supported Write Speeds: 2.4x TOC Information: Session 1... Any help would be appreciated.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Everything about that disc info is wrong so I suspect corruption on the bus somewhere. Either you've got a dodgy driver installed or your cable is faulty - that's assuming the drive is actually ok itself. Have you tried it in another pc?

I just got these verbaitum discs a couple of hours ago so I haven't tested them in another pc. Here is a copy of the right panel when I use a standard sony dvd-r disc. LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 That one looks ok so I guess it's just the Verbs it's having trouble with? Keep inserting / ejecting the tray (with a verb in it) and keep and eye on the info.

LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Try flashing the firmware on the drive again, maybe it didn't take properly the first time. But basically, if it won't initialise DL discs properly then the drive is probably broken.
