Customer (dis)service (Samsung firmware)

I just found this blog post by a security professor at Purdue University describing his frustration at finding two different Samsung Blu-Ray player models bricked by firmware updates force-applied around Christmas-time by Samsung when the players were connected to the Internet ... followed by uncomprehending customer service staff when he tried to report the problem :&

"It seems fairly clear that Samsung has a major problem in testing and assurance, and a surprising lack of concern for customer support"

(He's updated the post to say that Samsung are now beginning to play ball)

I don't do Blu-Ray myself, but thought the story might be interesting to those of you who do.
