LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 You probably need the 2.4x speed verbatims (MKM-001-00 dye) with an old drive like that.
rage Posted January 29, 2009 Author Posted January 29, 2009 You need the 2.4x speed verbatims (MKM-001-00 dye) with an old drive like that. Thanks for the fast reply! Just wondering - are those discs which I've tried to burn un-usable now? Also, is it possible to get a firmware update for that drive to burn the 8x DVDs?
mmalves Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 That particular disc was damaged in the failed burn, so you'll have to throw it out. You can look for firmware updates with the laptop's manufacturer but it's unlikely that they've added support for 8x DVD+R DL blanks since that burner is old. If you can't find the Verbatim 2.4x (MKM-001-00 dye) blanks as LUK suggested, you may want to get a normal-sized burner in an external enclosure. They're much more reliable than laptop burners and you'll get better burns on most media
