I 22:08:25 Destination Device: [2:0:0] HP DVD Writer 740b HJ24 (E:) (ATA)

I 22:08:25 Destination Media Type: DVD-R (Disc ID: MCC 03RG20) (Speeds: 4x)

I 22:25:40 Source Media Type: DVD-R (Book Type: DVD-R) (Disc ID: MCC 03RG20) (Speeds: 4x, 8x, 12x, 16x)

I think your burner is giving up: at the time of burning, it didn't correctly identify the media and possibly used a generic write strategy that didn't work well, resulting in a bad burn. You can see that, at the time of verifying the disc, the burner correctly identified the media (notice the available write speeds).

Burners are pretty cheap nowadays so you might want to get a new one

Another question, does the difference matters between internal burners and external burners..

like is one better than the other... or is it basically the same?

They're normally the same hardware, one is just in a shell (i.e. the external case).

If you have the option (and you have a desktop pc rather than a laptop), always go internal.

If you have a laptop, you're probably better off with an external because the slim-line drives are generally rubbish!

I would most likely purchase an external burner eventho I have a desktop pc

hope it wouldn't matter much, would it?

And right after I posted the first log on this topic...

I can't seem to burn anything at all

I keep getting the error: Invalid address for write

Unknown Vendor Unique....

and I was wondering if what mmalves said was right... that my burner is giving up on me/ starting to die?

Here is my log:

Externals run on much slower / cpu intensive interfaces (i.e. usb) and you then run the risk that you might get semaphore timeout errors.

Don't ever go external just because you can't be bothered to open up your case!
