YOgun27 Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 (edited) Hello, I am new to the forum, and have been searching the forum on problems with ImgBurn or the computer sticking on the writing Lead In process. I have just started having this problem when I got a new computer. When I try to burn a disc straight from an ISO to ImgBurn, it stops on the Lead In process, and doesn't start back up or eject the failed disc (I've waited over 45 minutes), and I have to restart the computer. When I restart, I am able to burn the ISO to disc. Can somebody tell me what the problem is, because I hate that I have to make a coaster before actually getting a working disc the next time around. (I have been using good quality discs: Verbatim & Taiyo Yuden) Thanks for the help! Here is the log: I 14:09:30 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! I 14:09:30 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium x64 Edition (6.0, Build 6001 : Service Pack 1) I 14:09:30 Total Physical Memory: 4,061,176 KB - Available: 2,860,680 KB I 14:09:31 Initialising SPTI... LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 That log shows TTH01 media, not anything made by Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. Burn at 8x, and try turning off the 'Perform OPC' option on the Write tab in the settings.
YOgun27 Posted March 27, 2009 Author Posted March 27, 2009 I have switched to Verbatim DVDs and am still having the same problem, as mentioned before, with the lead-in. ImgBurn continues to get stuck on the lead in function. Any suggestions? Here is the new log: I 18:32:02 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Try some DVD+R discs instead. If that fails, get yourself an external drive.
YOgun27 Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 (edited) Try some DVD+R discs instead. If that fails, get yourself an external drive. The drive started working for a little bit, but then my DVDs start to skip towards the end. Now, I get an "I/O error" when I attempt to burn, and it fails. Here is my latest log, I just wanted to see if there was any hope before I invest in a new burner. I 18:20:21 ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 started! mmalves Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Try a lens cleaning disc on that drive. You might also want to try 6x.
YOgun27 Posted June 17, 2009 Author Posted June 17, 2009 Try a lens cleaning disc on that drive. You might also want to try 6x. I went ahead and got a brand new burner only to have 1) A DVD skip at the end of the movie 2) Now I get an error when I attempt to burn. Yes, HP sent me a free replacement for my laptop. It should be brand new. Do you think it's a problem with the make of DVD drive?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Well, that model certainly appears to have problems burning. You'd be better off with an external drive - a Pioneer 116/117 in a USB enclosure or something.
