Cynthia Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Hi and welcome to the forum, champdota! The first device is a DVD reader and what the second one is something not known by Windows. Can you check in Windows Device Manager what is listed under DVD/CD-ROM drivers? (Control panel ->System -> Device Manager)
Cynthia Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 You see one item or two? The maxell disc - is that a cd disc?
champdota Posted February 16, 2009 Author Posted February 16, 2009 http://i41.tinypic.com/14b10n5.jpg Its a DVD, is Maxell a good brand? Could it be the disc's problem? Its perfectly clean though.
mmalves Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 You need a DVD burner in order to burn DVDs, and the drive you have is a CD burner and DVD reader, also known as a combo drive.
champdota Posted February 16, 2009 Author Posted February 16, 2009 Hmm, how about this one on my other laptop. DVD/CD-ROM Drives -> TSSTcorp CDW/DVD TS-L462C
Dialysis1 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 (edited) That one is a DVD-Rom also. http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=GR...O-R&cat=NBB Edit: Seconds too late. Edited February 16, 2009 by Dialysis1
