ISO burn is creating coasters(7 so far)

I have no idea what is going on with this iso. It's the Windows beta 7 iso, dl'd from Microsoft using their dl manager. I've used ImgBrn before and have never had a problem creating a bootable cd or dvd with it. I've looked at the logs but don't know enough to see anything going wrong. In windows explorer, looking at the dvd properties, it says 0 bytes for both free and used space on the dvd and it says the file system is raw. But the disk is completely blue and can't be written to anymore. I've tried two different burners-both Necs with different brand names and 3 brands of media- memorex, verbatim, and playo. Can anyone tell me what is going on? I did try dling a torrent of the file but it was the exact same file, thinking maybe it's corrupt.

I also tried installing with MagicIso and that actually started installing from the iso but I wasn't set to actually install it on a partition yet so I aborted that. I'd like to create the installation dvd if possible. Here's my latest log:

Hi and welcome to the forum, pccug! :)

It doesn't look like it's a Windows installation disc.

This is how it looks if I burn an installation disc of Windows 7.

Thank you for replying.

I suppose that means that this is a corrupt iso from Microsoft.

Guess I'll just try to install from MagicISO and see what I get.

Can someone take a look at this burn log and tell me why maybe these are erroring out at 97%. I have been using the same disk and write speeds always w/ no issues and lately am haveing problems completing the burn.

I know line 4 says to disable dvd43 and yes I do always have it disabled when burning.

Thanks for any help.

Hi and welcome to the forum, haulk262! :)

E 16:29:41 Failed to Read Sector 2246576 - Reason: Illegal Mode For This Track

The problem happens at the very end of the disc.

Are these discs real Verbatims? If so, where are they made?

Thanks!

They are made in India. I bought them at BestBuy. I have so many copies that have all worked and recently have just started having problems.

Is that burner on a HP computer? If so, there's firmware S856 available for it. Remove any disc and close the tray before updating. Reboot after it has finished. You should also get the latest drivers available for your motherboard's chipset (use SIW/Sandra/etc to find out the chipset you have) as it shouldn't be identifying the interface as Fibre.

I guess it's a game so you can't shrink it down in size to avoid using the last part of the disc. Perhaps just a bad disc in that spindle or that the burning works better at 8x or 12x.
