Why would you stick to using a version that's known to be buggy?! 2.4.2.0 exists for a reason.

If this problem isn't just a one off, try burning at the other available speeds.

I 22:41:13 Source Media Type: DVD-R (Book Type: DVD-R) (Disc ID: SONY16D1) (Speeds: 2x, 4x, 6x, 8x)

If none of them work, try some better media - Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim.

If they don't work, try a cleaning disc on the drive.

If it still doesn't work then, get yourself a new drive.

Just re-did the burn and worked with the new version but I also tried 4x.

Should I try 8x again whenever I go to burn something new or keep 4x?

No, 8x worked, or it did before. I only tried 4x because that might of been it but I doubt it if the author says the version I was using was so buggy.
