Current problem is:

1. On my XP SP3 machine, I used Ultra ISO (newest version) to attempt to burn a Sony DVD+DL.

2. The Memorex DVD drive gave an error message stating, "Power calibration error". I looked it up, tried some things out, and came to the conclusion it was due to a dusty DVD drive.

3. I moved my .iso file to my Vista SP1 machine and tried to burn it a second time using our brand new DVD burner (LITEON iHAS 220-08-06).

4 The disc spent 45 minutes burning at 2.5.

5. When it finished, it failed the verification check, and no drives can read it. Vista prompts to format the disc when I try to open it.

I don't want to waste any more of these expensive DVDs, so help me out please! What settings within ImgBurn or Vista do I need to change to make my discs burn correctly this time?

Hi and welcome to the forum, unique! :)

Can you post a log from that brand new burner?

You'll find it here:

Since your drive does not correctly read the 4x speed of these discs I would suggest that you update the firmware, if possible and get some Verbatim (Made in Singapore) or Taiyo Yuden discs since the Ritek brand is not what it used to be.

Do you mind explaining everything to me? I thought burning discs at lower speeds caused less errors, or at least that's what I've read before on websites. I'm glad I only bought two Sony DVDs.:o

I already updated to the newest firmware when I had trouble burning the first DVD. My DVD burner says, "8X maximum by Zone CLV". What speed DVDs should I get, and do I just need to get some Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden discs and it should work?

Not always true.

The only speed that can be used for that media in that writer.
