pshea Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I'm having trouble burning .iso files useing Imgburn. after I start the burn and the buffering finishes it stops working and I get one of two errors. The first says; ------------------------------------- I/O Error Device: [O:O:O] Slimtype DVD A DS8A1P CA11 (E:) (ATA) Scsi Status: 0x02 Interpretation: Check Condition CDB: 2A 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 20 00 Interpretation: Write (10) - Sectors 0 - 31 Sense Area 70 00 05 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00 00 27 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 Interpretation: Write Protected --------------------------------------- If I click retry I get the same error over and over. But if I click cancel and then try to burn again I get a different error says; --------------------------------------- I/O Error Device: [O:O:O] Slimtype DVD A DS8A1P CA11 (E:) (ATA) Scsi Status: 0x02 Interpretation: Check Condition CDB: 53 00 00 00 00 00 23 04 80 00 Interpretation: Reserve Track - Sectors 2,294,912 Sense Area 70 00 05 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00 00 2C 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 Interpretation: Command Sequence Error ----------------------------------------- Again if I click retry I get the same error over and over. But this time when I click cancel another error pops up right away saying ----------------------------------------- Failed to Reserve Track! Reason Command Sequence Error ------------------------------------------- It doesn't matter what speed I try to burn the disc at it never works. I'm using a 16x DVD-R for my attempted burning in my laptop. I've checked to see if I can update my drivers but they are all up to date. Any other recommendation?
Cynthia Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Hi and welcome to the forum, pshea! No idea of the quality of those 16x disc and if that is the issue. You could post the burning log from that failed burn, it might give some more clues and info. You'll find it here: Main Menu -> Help -> ImgBurn Logs

Cynthia Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I'm using a 16x DVD-R I 09:44:38 Destination Media Type: DVD-R (Disc ID: UME02) (Speeds: 2x) Your writer can only burn them at 2x. Sounds as they are not very well supported by your writer. Try to get another brand. http://club.cdfreaks.com/f33/nexxtech-disk...-shitty-246603/

They need to be 1-2x? I've burned music CD's and DVD's full of pictures and videos before useing 16x discs. Thanks for all your help.
Cynthia Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 With a decent burner + media you should be able to burn at much higher speeds than 2x. The problem with those discs are that they a probably not supported in the firmware (the instructions for the writer how to write to the discs) and the burner instead uses a generic approach and limiting it to 2x. Reading other posts indicates that your brand of media is not very well supported amongst most burners.
