Banan Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Hi, Trying to rip my DVD collection, but after the fourth DVD i noticed that the ISO files are all of same size! 2.303.698 KB to be exact. Turns out the ISO image (when played back in VLC) stops about 30 mins into the movie. From the example in the log, I'm guessing the ISO image should have been 6.648.823.808 bytes in size? From the logs: I 19:31:02 Operation Started! cornholio7 Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 goddag og velkommen til you shouldn't use imgburn for ripping discs, its not a decrypting tool
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Please copy + paste all the disc info from the panel on the right when you're back on the main 'Read' mode screen. Edit: what corny said is true but the log info just doesn't add up anyway so I'd like to double check some things!
Banan Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 (edited) Hi thanks for the welcome, and the incredible fast reply! What tool would I use for ripping the DVD's? cornholio7 Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 there should be more than that ?? Cynthia Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 You get the same disc info if you use your other DVD reader?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Yeah, your drive is old and non MMC compliant - it's returning a lot of bogus info. Maybe the other one will work better.
Banan Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 there should be more than that ?? Optiarc DVD RW AD-7200A 1.06 (SCSI) Current Profile: DVD-ROM [cut] Mine says; COMPAQ DVD-ROM SR-8584A a14D (ATA) Current Profile: Unknown (Not Supported) But also this caught my eye TOC Information: Session 1... (LBA: 0 - 1151849) -> Track 01 (Mode ???, LBA: 0 - 1151848) -> LeadOut (LBA: 1151849) Compared to yours below TOC - Mode is unknown? TOC Information: Session 1... (LBA: 0) -> Track 01 (Mode 1, LBA: 0 - 4133423) -> LeadOut (LBA: 4133424) So I'm guessing; 1) My drive is not supported Why? Drivers? Firmware? Or is COMPAQ DVD-ROM SR-8584A a14D (ATA) simply a piece of really old hardware from back in the days? :-) Works fine on my t60 thinkpad; HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4083N 1.08 (ATA) Current Profile: DVD-ROM Disc Information: Status: Complete Erasable: No Sessions: 1 Sectors: 3.246.496 Size: 6.648.823.808 bytes Time: 721:28:46 (MM:SS:FF) TOC Information: Session 1... LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 COMPAQ DVD-ROM SR-8584A a14D (ATA)Current Profile: Unknown (Not Supported) Disc Information: Status: Complete Erasable: No Sessions: 0 Sectors: 3.252.160 Size: 6.660.423.680 bytes Time: 722:44:10 (MM:SS:FF) TOC Information: Session 1... (LBA: 0 - 1151849) -> Track 01 (Mode ???, LBA: 0 - 1151848) -> LeadOut (LBA: 1151849) Current Profile: Unknown (Not Supported) I've never seen a DVD drive that didn't support the 'GET CONFIGURATION' MMC command.... until today that is! A firmware update might fix it but I doubt you'll find one. Sessions: 0 Obviously that's bogus info. There must be at least 1 for there to be any data on the disc! Sectors: 3.252.160... -> Track 01 (Mode ???, LBA: 0 - 1151848) Those two should say the same thing (number wise - but 1 sector out because one is a total and the other shows the last in the range). ImgBurn uses the TOC values when reading the individual tracks - because it has to!
Cynthia Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 I couldn't find any later firmware for that reader.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 e15c is available here but you never know if it's going to work or not with oem drives/firmwares. http://www.nix.ru/download_drivers_bios_fi...driver_id=91009 Also, it needs to be run in pure dos - having loaded the cdrom drivers etc.
Banan Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 Thanks Cynthia and UK :-) I'll start by trying new drivers, and perhaps upgrade the drive whenever - but seriously, who uses dvd drives today anyway? =) Keep up the good work, and thanks again. a.
blikkies Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Hi thanks for the welcome, and the incredible fast reply! What tool would I use for ripping the DVD's?
spinningwheel Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 What tool would I use for ripping the DVD's? Please use Google for that question. As you can see, you have asked it several times and no one answered it. We do not discuss any form of ripping here.
