Edwardjr Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Hi there, just wondering if anyone can shed some light on my situation; I've recently bought a Pioneer 216DBK drive to burn some XBOX360 games which I have downloaded and verified the .iso's. To burn them I am using Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4 Printables. I've sucessfuly burned 2 games but have made 5 coasters in the process of doing this, I'm getting the write error after a few seconds of the burn process starting. I let ImgBurn put the LayerBreak in manually, using 2.4x and seleting the .dvd within ImgBurn. As a result of this I flashed my drive with the firmware provided on the Pioneer website and upgraded motherboard drivers and SATA drivers but still no joy (I've disconnected my old DVD drive and another HDD to free some power up in my system) and tried both on vista and XP. I have a GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3. Attached is the log file from ImgBurn containing sucessfull and failed burns, any help is much appreciated. ImgBurn.log
Cynthia Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Hi and welcome to the forum, Edwardjr! I have the same burner + media and no issues here. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?s=&...ost&p=89442 The only thing I can see is that you are using I 17:19:02 Write Speed: 2x It might be that 2x speed triggers some generic write approach. Try with 2,4x in the speed drop down box instead. The 6x write speed gave me a little better results than the 2.4x speed. I 17:19:02 OPC: No Might also be worth to try with this setting enabled. (Change in the write tab in the settings department)
Edwardjr Posted March 22, 2009 Author Posted March 22, 2009 Thanks for the speedy reply, will try this now!
Edwardjr Posted March 22, 2009 Author Posted March 22, 2009 Ok, I've just tried another burn but this time at 2.4x and got this error; I 17:46:09 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! I 17:46:09 Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition (6.0, Build 6001 : Service Pack 1) I 17:46:09 Total Physical Memory: 3,143,436 KB - Available: 1,871,176 KB I 17:46:09 Initialising SPTI... Cynthia Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 I can only see three reasons for your problem. 1. The burner doesn't like tha mother boards SATA controller. I had this issue and had to get an internal Silicon Image ATA controller card to solve it. 2. The burner is defect. 3. Power supply issue. Do you have any problems burning single layer discs?
Edwardjr Posted March 22, 2009 Author Posted March 22, 2009 I've tried single layer discs and they work. I gave it another go with 2.4x and still got the write errors; ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 - Log ; Sunday, 22 March 2009, 19:21:24 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 19:19:32 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! Cynthia Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Curious. Could you also post that log from the single layer burn? And also attach the .ibg file from that single layer burn, like this one: I 19:21:02 Graph Data File: E:\Users\Edward\AppData\Roaming\ImgBurn\Graph Data Files\PIONEER_DVD-RW_DVR-216D_1.09_22-MARCH-2009_19-20_MKM-003-00_2.4x.ibg
Edwardjr Posted March 22, 2009 Author Posted March 22, 2009 Ok, done another single layer burn, heres the info; I 20:12:19 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 You should try the DL's at one / all of the other 'supported' speeds too. I 18:51:08 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: MKM-003-00) (Speeds: 2.4x, 4x, 6x, 8x, 10x)
Edwardjr Posted March 22, 2009 Author Posted March 22, 2009 I've tried 2.4x and 6x speeds, both give write errors.
Edwardjr Posted March 22, 2009 Author Posted March 22, 2009 Thank you both for your input; Is there a possibility that the drive is conflicting with my sata controller on my motherboard?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Not really because that would mess up the burning on all discs.
Edwardjr Posted March 22, 2009 Author Posted March 22, 2009 So i guess having 2 successful burns that it rules the sata controller out of the equation? What other DL drives would you recommend?
liamthornhill Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 (edited) pioner DVR-216 EDIT *my friend* had same problem then bought this works everytime Edited March 22, 2009 by liamthornhill
Cynthia Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 So i guess having 2 successful burns that it rules the sata controller out of the equation? Yes, when I had my SATA issues, also single layer burns went banana.
Edwardjr Posted March 22, 2009 Author Posted March 22, 2009 Would it make any difference Cynthia that I can burn single layer discs fine?
Cynthia Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Normally when a burner is broken, even single layer discs ends up with write errors. If you have access to another computer, try to burn a DL disc in that computer with your burner.
Edwardjr Posted March 23, 2009 Author Posted March 23, 2009 I can burn single layer and CD-R's fine. Late last night I tried to burn the same game using clonecd and it worked fine 1st try, so I'm puzzled to why it wont burn in ImgBurn.
