fractus Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 (edited) Heey everybody, I've burned an image file to a dvd-r, but it didn't work :S So i decided to check the dvd using the 'verify' option of imgburn There i got a very strange problem: If i'm at the 'verify' mode, it says: 'disk is empty' If i'm at the 'write' mode, it says: 'disk not empty' There i couldn't follow it any more. Here are the logs: Verify mode: HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H55N 1.05 (ATA) Current Profile: DVD-R Disc Information: Status: Unknown Erasable: Unknown Formatted: Unknown Sessions: Unknown Pre-recorded Information: Manufacturer ID: RITEKF1 Recording Management Area Information: HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H55N Physical Format Information (Last Recorded): Disc ID: 0@P-!-00 Book Type: DVD-R Part Version: 5 Disc Size: 120mm Maximum Read Rate: Not Specified Number of Layers: 1 Track Path: Parallel Track Path (PTP) Linear Density: 0.267 um/bit Track Density: 0.74 um/track First Physical Sector of Data Area: 196.608 Last Physical Sector of Data Area: 2.072.095 Last Physical Sector in Layer 0: 0 Write mode: HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H55N 1.05 (ATA) Current Profile: DVD-R Disc Information: Status: Unknown Erasable: Unknown Formatted: Unknown Sessions: Unknown Supported Write Speeds: 4x; 8x; 12x; 16x Pre-recorded Information: Manufacturer ID: RITEKF1 Recording Management Area Information: HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H55N Physical Format Information (Last Recorded): Disc ID: 0@P-!-00 Book Type: DVD-R Part Version: 5 Disc Size: 120mm Maximum Read Rate: Not Specified Number of Layers: 1 Track Path: Parallel Track Path (PTP) Linear Density: 0.267 um/bit Track Density: 0.74 um/track First Physical Sector of Data Area: 196.608 Last Physical Sector of Data Area: 2.072.095 Last Physical Sector in Layer 0: 0 (they are the same? ) other log (edit) I 19:38:45 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Disc Information:Status: Unknown Erasable: Unknown Formatted: Unknown Sessions: Unknown Your drive is probably erroring out because of an interface / driver issue or it just doesn't like trying to use that rubbish RITEK media. There's a 1.06 firmware update available from here - http://www.firmwarehq.com/LG/GSA-H55N/files.html
fractus Posted March 23, 2009 Author Posted March 23, 2009 Thx for the quick reply! i've installed the new firmware, but it still doesn't work any other ideas?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Load imgburn, switch to write mode, eject the disc, press f8, load the disc... wait until it says it's not empty, then press f8 again. Save the contents of the log window to a file and upload it.
fractus Posted March 23, 2009 Author Posted March 23, 2009 (edited) Here is the log file ImgBurn1.log Edited March 23, 2009 by fractus
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Do you have any other blanks you can try? All the disc info commands are failing with the error 'Unable to recover TOC' on those.
fractus Posted March 24, 2009 Author Posted March 24, 2009 i've burned images on similar dvds without problems, that's the strange thing when i burned an image on this one, and i wanted to play it, my computer says it's empty, although i can see there is written on it (at the back of the dvd) Strange...
