Emgoodie Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 I have mad myself about 20 useless dvds in the last 24 hours. I keep getting an I/O Error! It seems to happen more often with 2 of the 3 different DVD-R medias that I have. The Error Msg looks like this: I/O Error! Device [0:00] LIT-ON DVDRW SOHW-16935 KS06(F!) (ATA) Scsi Status 0x02 Interpretation: Check Condition CDB: 2A 00 00 1A 97 E0 00 00 20 00 Interpretation: Write (10)- Sectors: 1742816-1742847 Sense Area: 70 00 03 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00 00 0C 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 Interpretation: Write Error And this is the IMG Log: I 12:58:31 Initialising SPTI... I 12:58:31 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 12:58:31 Found 1 CD-RW and 1 DVD
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Update your drive's firmware. http://www.firmwarehq.com/Lite-On/SOHW-1693S/files.html Burn at 8x or 12x Buy better discs.
Emgoodie Posted April 2, 2009 Author Posted April 2, 2009 I downloaded the file from firmware and used winzip 12 to open it. But when I open it and click run, I am getting a box that pops up with : Acess Denied! You must have administrator privilege to flash drives. I don't know why it would say that. I am on my Windows admin user account.
Emgoodie Posted April 2, 2009 Author Posted April 2, 2009 Okay, now that I have lowered the write speed, I am getting this in the Img Burn Log: I 15:20:47 Synchronising Cache... W 15:21:38 Potential 'WaitImmediateIO' Deferred Error - (0/3) - Program Memory Area Update Failure W 15:21:38 Synchronise Cache Failed! - Reason: Program Memory Area Update Failure W 15:21:38 Retrying (1 of 3)... LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 You really want to get the firmware update file working before messing around with anything else.
Emgoodie Posted April 3, 2009 Author Posted April 3, 2009 (edited) OK, I updated my firmware and I slowed my burn speed..but still getting errors. The disc will play up to a point and then it starts skipping. Here is the log: I 18:10:32 ImgBurn Version 2.4.3.0 started! I 18:10:32 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic Edition (6.0, Build 6001 : Service Pack 1) I 18:10:32 Total Physical Memory: 1,047,380 KB - Available: 612,132 KB I 18:10:32 Initialising SPTI... LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Read the last line of post 2. You want Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media. Failing that, a new drive... possibly after you try cleaning the insides of your existing one.
Emgoodie Posted April 3, 2009 Author Posted April 3, 2009 Yeah, Verbatim and Memorex (only the printable ones) seem to work well with my drive. Oh well...what to do with all these dang crap dvds...hmm Thanks for all the help!!
acooke33 Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 I get the same kind of error but on the last line mine says for Interpretation: Cannot write Medium - Incompatible Format I am assuming it is the dvds I bought...Memorex DVD+R DL. I didn't realize they were so corrupt. I've ordered some Verbatim. But just in case, does the error message above refer to the DVDs? I tried all 10 in a pack and got the same message each time. Right before I got the I/O message I got this message: Set LO Data Zone Capacity Failed! Reason: No Seek Complete What does that mean? My computer is capable of burning double layer dvds...I've done it before with Verbatims. Thanks.
mmalves Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Starting a new thread and posting the log would allow us to help you better.
