Cynthia Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I would stay away from Lite-On if you are burning +R media. I guess the four latest ones are Pioneer 116/216.
Steve100 Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 so you would buy Pionner right? I have a Pioneer 116 and it seems fine with almost any disc I throw at it
Cynthia Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I would do this: Decide which media codes you are going to burn with and then look at scans posted in forums (CDFreaks and others), to see how well recent models can deal with those media codes. You can get pretty good results even with cheaper media if you pick the right burner. Don't know in which country you live - but the new Optiarc 7240 (released in the US so far) looks like a nice all-round burner.

Phi Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I would stay away from Lite-On if you are burning +R media. Just stay clear of Lite-On Excuse me but I don't understand. I think I haven't bad burns with them. I usually burn at 8x and 12x speed -no need high speeds-, using good quality +R media (Verbatim DVD's) DVDInfo says Quality: 99,25% - 99,60%, and Average Jitter 8% - 10%, similar to Lightning UK! review. CDFreak' review of my Lite-on iHAS-422 (25,50
Steve100 Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 well reading reviews, looks like my DVR-112D is top noch!!! Iam in the UK and I bought an external USB enclosure fitted with a 116, and it works fine with all the disk,s I have tried so far both CD, dvd sl and dvd dl, it cost me

eSkRo Posted April 20, 2009 Author Posted April 20, 2009 (edited) the new Optiarc 7240 (released in the US so far) looks like a nice all-round burner. hmmm.... Whats the Diff between Sony, Nec & Optiarc? also LUK!, which DVD writer are u favoring or using? Edited April 20, 2009 by eSkRo
Cynthia Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Sony + Nec started Optiarc. Now it's only Sony. The 7240 is based on Nec chipset and not just a rebadged Lite-On as some Sony/Optiarc models are.
