shieldlp Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 I upgraded to 2.2.4.0 and set up to burn an avi to a CD-R. I received the following message(sort of!): You seem to want to burn a Divx Disc ... and advised me to change my directory structure. The avi was encoded with an Xvid codec and not a Divx codec. What is a "Divx Disc" and how is it different from all the CDs I have encoded in the past? Regards, and thank you for a great product.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 DivX, XviD... it's all the same thing. So far as the program is concerned, it's any disc that has a *.avi or *.divx file on it in the root directory. The prompt comes from a new feature to help people (newbies) make discs that stand a decent chance of working on their standalone players. Most will not read the UDF file system and the ISO9660 one is limited to 8.3 characters. So basically, ImgBurn tells the user to switch to a file system option that includes Joliet.
blutach Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Maybe the message should read "You seem to want to burn a disc encoded with the DivX or Xvid codec"? Just a thought. Regards
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 I thought about that but decided against it (obviously!). DivX is a pretty well known name and players get certified for DivX playback so it made sense just to list that rather than go through all the possible avi codecs!
blutach Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 NP. I guess we don't see too many questions like that posed by the OP anyway. Regards
