Hello, So build complete. In both PC's new mainboards, processor, memory, HD's etc. New writers: Liteon iHAS124 (in both PC's 2 writers). They are very quit en everything is working 100%. Must say, I regret not buying the Pioneer BDR-207EBK. I know they are more expensive, but my old Pioneer 216 SATA writers did their job for more then 5 years. And I have written thousends of DVD's with them. When the Liteon's break down, I will buy the Pioneers. Much regards, DrByte

Hello Lightning UK! Thanks for the fast answer, and sorry for my late respons. Have been very busy overhere to locate the problem. Before I saw you reply I got 2 new Lite-on writers from my reseller. But, writing a image still caused problems. The main buffer of 80 MB stayed on 100%, however the device buffer starts to fluctuate between 0% and 100% as the write speed increases. When the buffer stated to fluctuate, the write speed decreases and It didn't matter with drive I used. So, removed all non-essential hardware from my mainboard. Left one HD for booting and one for writing the image from attached to it. Removed from both HD's the partitions en created new ones, and did a full format. Then re-installed Windows 7 x64 from scrath again. Installed chipset and display driver only and then Imgburn (didn't even do a Windows update). When I started to write the same problem occured. Updated Windows and tried again, you guessed it, same problem. Called the technical department of my reseller and told them what my problem was en what I did. Well, my MSI K9N2 Diamond mainboard is more then 6 years old, and it's most likely that it has a defect after all those years. He needed to examen the mainboard himself to make sure that is the mainboard, but It was due time that I bought a new one. Even my Pioneer 2x 216 and Seagate HD's are more then 6 years old. Did a drive fitness test with the Seagate utillity and all was green. Gonna buy myself a Asus Sabertooth Rev. 30. mainboard with 16 GB Corsair Vengace memory and a AMD FX8350 4gHz 8 core processor. Will use my old AMD Phenom II x4 940 3 gHz processor and 4 GB memory to build myself a faster download PC. When everything is running ok here I will let you know in this topic. Much regards, DrByte

I was to soon with my conclusions in this Altough set to 8x speed write both my Samsung writers will not go faster then 4x speed. What have I done, 1. Changed sata cables. 2. Put writers on diffrent sata-ports. 3. Completely re-installed Windows 7 x64 from scratch 4. Installed Mobo/Chipset drivers for MSI K9N2 Diamond 5. Set speed manually in Imgburn 6. Burned from a other harddisk None of the above helped and I think about to return them to the shop and get other writers. But before that, maby someone else over here has a idea what to do to make them work. Media used Verbatim+R DL 8x speed Printable. After 5 years of service and many burns I had to replace my Pioneer DVD-216 DBK drives. Bought two Samsung SH-224BB drives. Ater installing did some burns and encoutered two problems. Had set the burnspeed for Double Layer media to 8x but most of the time I got 4.0 or 6.0 speed. Both drives have the lates firmwares and at first I could not figure out why the drives didn't write at 8.0 speed. Then I saw this topic by Lightning UK! I only use Verbatim +R Single Layer en Double Layer media so added them to Imgburn. After that both Samsung drives burn perfectly at 8.0 (Double Layer media) en 16.0 (Single Layer media). Had also a problem with the Booktype Setting. But that was because I had connected the drives to a VIA RAID Controller 3249. When I connected the Samsung drives to the Mainboard this problem was solved. The Pioneers were both connected to the VIA Controller and never had issues with them. Could set the drives speed manually en never had problems with the Booktype Setting. Guess that other drives have other rules..... Then why this topic ? So that maybe other people who have the same drive(s) en problem(s) can benefit from this info. Much regards, DrByte

Hello Lightning UK! After you had stopped the develoment of DVD-Decrypter, I have been searching for a good alternative. Especially a aternative that has the option to make a .MDS & .ISO file so that the Layer Breach bit is preseverd on it's original position for DL DVD's I think DVDFab decrypter is a good alternative but it lacks the option to generate a .MSD & .ISO file. Send a PM to Fentao on the DVDFab decrypter a PM and asked him if they could buils this in DVDFab decrypter: Hello Mr. Fentao, I hoop it is ok that I write you this pm. At this moment I have never used DVDFab Decrypter because it lackes the option to make a .MDS & .ISO file as output. The old DVD-Decrypter 3.5.4.0. does this, so that the Layer Breach Bit is preserved on it's original position. Then afterward I can write the Image with ImgBurn 2.1.0.0. by loading the .MDS file. This works 100%. As is, the development of DVD-Decrypter has stopped a long time ago and it doesn't support the latest protections. I'am still looking for a good alternative but haven't found it yet. Is there a possibility that in the near future a option will be added to DVDFab Decrypter to output to HD a .MDS & .ISO file ? I would very much appriciate it if you could give me a short answer to my question. With much respect and regards.
