  2. That seemed to work! thanks!
  3. it seems like it is only doing this when it opens imgburn through dvd flick when converting a file. is there a log for imgburn when it is open with dvd flick? i burned a disc just fine with imgburn directly.
  4. Okay, tried changing the port... same thing.
  5. So i've just attached a new burner to my computer. Not brand new though. It was used on my other computer, but i changed computers. I used the burner the other day attached to the new computer, and it worked fine. Today, i attached the burner to a usb port at the BACK of the computer, opposed to the front where i put it last time. Now it is popping up with an error messge in ImgBurn: I/O Error! Device: [0:0:0} (USB) CDB: 12 00 00 00 60 00 Interperetation: Inquiry Reason: The specified network resource or defice is no longer availabe. If i click retry, the message just keeps popping up. If i click cancel, it seems to burn a disc... though i haven't played a disc yet to see if it actaully works. Does anyone know what this is because I haven't got a clue. Thanks!
  6. I recently had a post about my taiyo yudens skipping, and i was finally confinced to get a new burner. So i got a liteon burner and want to run a quality check on my disc, but i can't remember how it was suggested i do it. I believe it was in my post about the skipping discs, but i can't find the post. where'd it go. I hate to ask the same questions again (i know it bugs you) so i was hoping to just pull up that last posting and answre the questions from that. help.
  7. and if you see my post a few rows up... i did ask advice about a lite-on burner to see if that is a good model, but i had no feedback so i'm just stuck.
  8. I've been playing them on all different dvd players. given them to friends too to see what the problem is. BOTH my burners can't have died at the same time, and have the same issues when the discs are played back. Could it be a bad spindle of discs?

  10. Okay, STILL these discs are skipping. I've stopped using two different burners and stayed with just the new one. I'm burning to Taiyo Yudens as suggested and STILL my discs are skipping. More frequently now too. Really REALLY frustrating. Here's the log of the latest bad burn.
  11. It is time to buy a new external dvd burner. What is the best one to buy? Or what should I look for when purchasing one?
  12. What about this one? http://www.abesofmaine.com/item.do?item=PLDEHAU42408&id=PLDEHAU42408& http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=2496
  13. LiteOn is the brand isn't it? Just noticed that !
  14. The burner in my desktop is a regular burner... tray pops out to take the disc, but the one in my laptop is one where you just slide in the disc into the computer without a tray. that is slimline right? So that's the one that needs replacing? any recommendations as to a brand?
  15. crap... didn't work. downloaded dvd info pro but it won't do a pipo scan due to the drive now what
  16. I have no idea then. How can i find the info?
  17. Um.... I have no idea. How can I find out of mine does that? edit: downloading dvd info pro now to see....
  18. the other thing i've noticed with the ones that are skipping yesterday and today, is that they usually (except for the odd few) start skipping an hour to an hour an a half into the movie....?
  19. This is the log of a skipping disk. ...... could it be a bad spindle perhaps? i opened a new spindle yesterday which is when this hell started. ****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.5.1.0 - Log ; Wednesday, 25 August 2010, 19:47:05 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 19:20:14 ImgBurn Version 2.5.1.0 started! 21. Okay... so most probably remember my prevois questions about skipping disks. Well i took the advice and bought taiyo yudengs ( 02's) and got some very successful burns. I haven't burned for a couple weeks and now i'm trying some again and they are skipping again. Any ideas what the issue could be? Should I post a log?
  22. Okay.... i've finally narrowed it down i think to a couple of options for my discs. From what everyone has suggested (thank you!) i've gotten it down to using dvd-r but now i have two options between verbatim and tyg02. please can you let me know which should be better? verbatim: http://www.rima.com/prod/1869.html tyg02: http://www.rima.com/prod/1736-100.html My two burners are: Old one: I 09:37:21 ImgBurn Version 2.5.1.0 started! oh one more question actually.... tyg02 is the 8x right? That means i can burn as quickly? is there much differnce between those and the tyg03 16x other than the speed they can burn at? Reason i'm asking is i burn on two different burners. one newer than the other. Currently i have tdk 16x discs that i burn at 8x on the newer one and 2.4x on the old one. if i burn any faster than that with the old one it starts skipping (not sure if it's the burner or just the disc) Here's my info for my two burners: Old one: I 09:37:21 ImgBurn Version 2.5.1.0 started! I 09:37:21 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition (6.0, Build 6002 : Service Pack 2) I 09:37:21 Total Physical Memory: 3,139,524 KB - Available: 1,869,188 KB W 09:37:21 Duplex Secure's SPTD driver can have a detrimental effect on drive performance.
