  1. As a general rule, is it preferable to have only one disc burning software program installed to avoid potential conflicts?
  2. Thank you. The only other burning programs installed on this particular PC would be Nero (a version that's at least 4 years old) and the OEM (Cyberlink InstantBurn) software that came with the LG GGW-H20L drive. After I do another burn with ImgBurn, I'll see what happens.
  3. Installed the above. No glitches or other hangups occurred during installation, or after reboot. Would doing this alone have solved the problem, or are there other steps I need to take? Please let me know if you require any additional information now that this procedure has been accomplished.
  4. Thank you. I'll try and play with it tomorrow. Time for bed now.
  5. I read the .txt files for each download. Afraid this stuff is a little over my head. Not sure if I should mess with it. This scared me away as well: "NOTE: File is intended for use by developers/advanced users. If you are not a developer/advanced user, please download INFINST_AUTOL.EXE instead." Anyway, the burn/verification was successful. I just quickly scanned through the disc on a PS3, and no lockups. I'll watch it in full tomorrow night.
  6. I looked at the Sony web page that has the latest updates/drivers for my model (VGC-RA820G), but did find any newer SATA drivers. And they only had the original MB bios from 2004. Here is the Filter Driver Load Order: =============================================== Filter Driver Load Order - ImgBurn v2.4.4.0 =============================================== Upper Device Filter: redbook Upper Class Filter: [None Found] Device: CD/DVD-ROM Device Lower Class Filter: PxHelp20 Lower Class Filter: clbstor Lower Class Filter: Afc Lower Class Filter: AnyDVD Lower Device Filter: imapi Filter Name: redbook File Name: C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\redbook.sys File Version: 5.1.2600.5512 (xpsp.080413-2108) File Description: Redbook Audio Filter Driver Product Name: Microsoft
  7. I receive this error once in a while. Just today when burning a Sony BD50-RE. Burn was successful, but received error during verify. Then it verified O.K. at the finish.: ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 - Log ; Saturday, 25 April 2009, 20:49:32 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 14:35:13 ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 started! 8. I received the same type of e-mail today (twice!). I won't post the link it said to click on, but this was the message: "jurdreda has sent you a new personal message titled "From Administrator". You can read this personal message by following the link below:" My policy is to never click on any link I receive in an e-mail. It's a good thing I checked my in box and saw "0 messages."
  9. Well, it looks like the replacement LG branded BD25-RE is toast. This is the one mentioned above that had the drop outs at the beginning (but at least it burned somewhat successfully the first time around.) Used the new 2.4.4.0 ImgBurn and did a minimum capacity format (which failed.) Then tried to burn it anyway just for laughs. The burn log: ; ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 - Log ; Saturday, 11 April 2009, 18:25:22 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 18:23:22 ImgBurn Version 2.4.4.0 started! 10. This must be what just happened with one of the lesser quality LG BD25-RE's (included with the burner.) I used the full format command on a brand new one last night on the downstairs burner (the one that I assume is the better of the 2.) Anyway, It gave me the same format error warning as before, (the I/O box was left checked in this instance.) The format eventually completed, and the disc burned and verified successfully. I assumed all was well. Then I played it back from the beginning. Within less than a minute, the audio started to exhibit glitches (drop outs.) The disc would continue to play, but it was obvious that there was something wrong (at least with this section of the disc.) I tried it on my PS3 just to be sure, and the drop outs were in the same place. This surprised me, as the disc supposedly passed the verification process. So, as a test, I'm starting the process over with the same disc, except this time I'm trying a "preferred format" full erase mode instead of the full capacity format. I'm not sure if that will produce different results, but as I said in my first post, these errors only started to occur when I chose to erase my discs using the full capacity format mode. Apparently, some discs do not react well when the full capacity format is used.
  11. O.K. I just successfully completed a full format/burn on the suspect burner with a SONY BD50-RE. It is a Memorex branded disc. I've already written to it once before (using the older version 2.4.2.0 with the preferred format capacity), so it's still fairly new. I still haven't had time to watch the disc, or do the rip test. Maybe later tonight. Also, I need to try full formatting one of the Sony BD50-RE's on the suspect burner. If you also want to see the ImgBurn log info, I can post that later as well. Updated 1:25am EST: The above disc was ripped successfully to my HD on another PC/burner. No errors. So far, so good. The suspect burner is currently doing a full erase/format (full capacity) on a previously burned (preferred formatted) Sony BD50-RE. I'll post the details (status box info, before and after) when it is complete.
  13. Yes. The proof of the pudding will be when I watch the disc from start to finish without any burps. If it passes that test, only then will I know if the format/burn was truly error free. Just thought of another way to check the disc. I'll rip it to a hard drive image on my other PC/burner and see if that turns out O.K. If there are any disc read errors during the rip, I'll know that the "fix" isn't reliable.
  14. I may have found a solution to my original problem. First, let me say that I was in error when I first reported that ImgBurn had formatted my BD50-RE into a BD25-RE. This is NOT what actually happened, and was not the programs fault at all. What I was trying to do was increase the capacity of a BD50-RE (and BD25-RE) to the maximum possible data capacity. When I first attempted this, I was using the recently released ImgBurn ver. 2.4.3.0 (which no longer displays the "preferred format capacity" et al, in the status box on the right. Not having this as a reference, I erroneously mistook the "sectors available"" information for the "bytes available" information, and thought that ImgBurn had decreased the capacity of my disc. I have since discovered that my LG BluRay burner was the culprit. For some reason, when I selected a full capacity erase function, it was giving me an error when it reached 99% of the operation. I had to manually stop the process, and the disc was then only reporting that it had the lower capacity. The reason that I'm assuming that the burner is at fault is because I have 2 identical units. One will perform the full format operation without a glitch, while the other stops at 99%. Both are using the same version of ImgBurn with the exact same settings. The error message I was experiencing was: "W 15:39:04 Potential 'WaitImmediateIO' Deferred Error - (99%, 0/4) - Format Command Failed." Last night I Googled this information and found that someone suggested I change one particular setting in ImgBurn. Under Settings: / I/O Settings: / Don't Use Immediate I/O check the box "Enable". After doing this, I was able to complete the full capacity erase format and burn on a BD25-RE without getting the error message. I have not tried it with a BD50-RE as yet, but will within the next day or so. And will report results.
  15. Very well. I shall press on and see what happens. I thank you for all your extremely prompt and helpful support. STELLAR! Absolutely STELLAR!!! BTW, I have made a small contribution to your organization just now via PayPal.
