  1. Thanks, that fixed it. Hope there are no subsequent side effects. Some superficial googling earlier seemed to imply it was a 'needed' file, not to be removed: http://www.processlibrary.com/directory/files/svrapi/18915/ http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/dlllibrary/svrapi/ etc -- Terry, East Grinstead, UK
  2. Thanks, but I've replaced it (temporarily) with the version downloaded from here http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?svrapi yet the error message still appears. -- Terry, East Grinstead, UK
  3. Recently I've started to get the following obscure error message whenever I start ImgBurn 2.5.6.0 on this XP PC. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4019461/ImgBurn-StartupErrorMsg.jpg But after closing that, ImgBurn appears as usual and runs successfully. -------------------- BTW, the email link in About ImgBurn doesn't appear to work. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4019461/ImgBurn-EmailMessage.jpg -- Terry, East Grinstead, UK
  4. No, but only because I have Default Beep disabled in CP > Sounds and Audio Devices > Sounds. Installed 2.5.5.0 and did another burn. Similar results. It's down to MEP17 I'm sure, because if I minimise that I can then click ImgBurn which returns focus to it and simultaneously displays the success message. MEP has some occasional quirky effects on other programs too! -- Terry, East Grinstead, UK
  5. I'm running XP Pro. I did another run since my last post and made careful notes of the behaviour. This is close to what I saw on completion. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4019461/ImgBurn-Completion-1.jpg I say 'close' because that screenshot was taken later and it differs from the original appearance in one important respect: neither window had focus (both title areas were grey). Clicking didn't return focus to ImgBurn. So it couldn't be closed or minimised. I tried removing the finished DVD at this stage but that made no difference. What DID, was that after I activated my video editor, Magix Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus (which I'd deliberately kept open) I was then able to activate ImgBurn, and the completion message duly appeared. Next time, to test my tentative conclusion that MEP17+ is behind this odd behaviour, I'll close it before I start the burn. -- Terry, East Grinstead, UK
  6. Thanks. On the next run I minimised everything except ImgBurn (and ImgBurn Log) but the message still wasn't visible. Then I clicked the ImgBurn window and it appeared. I'm pretty sure that previously it used to pop up on top of everything else, as soon as the jingle was played? -- Terry, East Grinstead, UK
  7. I'm using version 2.5.4.0. Recently it seems that the (very welcome) 'Successful completion' message is taking a long tme to appear. Not even sure if it would appear at all if I didn't go looking for it (Alt+Tab, etc.) Perhaps 1 minute elapses after the 'completion jingle' before it's popping up these days. -- Terry, East Grinstead, UK

  9. Thought I'd report back with final status to close off the thread. I was right about AVS Player. However I was way off beam trying to get back in shape by hacking that second NONE entry. As I'm sure you realised, that's my main HD Drive icon. Anyway, to cut to the quick, I sacrificed a couple of days' work and did a System Restore. Happily that seems to have got me sorted. Here's a self-explanatory screenshot. http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/3497/fi...essolvedqe8.jpg -- Terry, East Grinstead, UK
  10. I think I was mistaken about both the causes. Neither the ImgBurn crash nor the firmware upgrade are likely to have contributed to my screwed up drive entry. I'd forgotten one other thing I'd done, namely to uninstall AVS DVD Player. This had been showing quirky behaviour and I thought I'd got rid of it last night. But this morning, working on this problem, I noticed I still had references to it in some context menus. It appears to be sort of 'partly uninstalled'. Anway, to cut to the quick, it seems to be responsible for the current issue. As I got it wrong before I hesitate to be 100% sure, but I'm still working on it and the evidence seems strong. But unfortunately right now it seems that I have to keep the darned thing installed, otherwise Autoplay stops working and other consequences! And with AVS it installed, it insists on placing itself at the top of the r-click context menu for the DVD drive. This despite not even being included in the list under File Types > Drive > Advanced as you see: http://img93.imageshack.us/img93/8084/filetypes4ij6.jpg I've re-populated that from scratch, and have 'Play with Media Player Classic' as the default. (All except VLC work from a r-click; VLC plays the DVD if opened from its own file menu, so maybe I have the entry wrong in File Types.) Ideally I want to remove AVS completely, but each time I've tried has caused problems. Anyway, plainly not an ImgBurn issue, and thanks for your help. -- Terry, East Grinstead, UK
  11. OK, thanks. I think there could be two causes behind these problems. First, I think the ImgBurn crashes I've described may have changed file association/context Settings under the Registry tab. I found that under Tools > Settings > Registry most of the following were checked. Shell Extensions ---------------- AutoPlay - Blank CD AutoPlay - Blank DVD AutoPlay - Blank HD DVD AutoPlay - Blank Blu-ray AutoPlay - CD Audio AutoPlay - DVD Movie AutoPlay - HD DVD AutoPlay - Blu-ray AudioCD Drive.CDROM DVD Open With Not sure whether these were the installation defaults? Anyway I've now unchecked all but the last, at least until I sort out the main issue of the 'DVD' drive entry. I strongly suspect this arose as a direct result of upgrading the firmware of my DVD Reader/Writer (Blue-Ray, PIONEER BD-ROM BDC-202) from version 1.01 to 1.07 It seems it's not actually totally missing, but is in fact that second entry '(NONE) Drive': http://img66.imageshack.us/img66/8904/filetypes1dp6.jpg The evidence for this is that when I r-clicked the DVD drive entry in My Computer and then clicked 'Play with Power DVD' I got the message: "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel." Making the assumption that this had to mean the second entry, I duly added an Action for Power DVD. And now I can play it from the r-click menu. The contents under that now look like this: http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/9133/filetypes3zz5.jpg I've no idea what that original entry 'find' is. And neither of the two entries can be edited or removed! Nor can I change the inappropriate name 'Drive' to 'DVD RW drive' or something. The only thing I could change was the icon. Also I can't remember what the other contents were. So I would like to get the original one back! The snag with System Restore is that I don't want to mess up that firmware upgrade. I suppose the next thing I'll try is to make a CURRENT registry copy with either System Restore or ERUNT/ERDNT, then try going back a bit. If it screws up, I should be able to get back to where I am right now. -- Terry, East Grinstead, UK
  12. Something odd going on here. If I r-click the 'CD-Drive' entry under My Computer, I'm now seeing 'Read using ImgBurn' as the top entry. Pretty sure it used to be 'Play with PowerDVD'. And I no longer see an entry 'Open with...' which I'm pretty sure was there yesterday. I'll look around, but any idea what can have happened here please, and how I restore normality? -- Terry, East Grinstead, UK
  13. A more severe problem this time. When I loaded a particular DVD+RW disc last night (a disc that was readable in my players), I first got a message like 'Getting Device Media status'. But it was still present after 5-10 minutes. so I tried to close ImgBurn. Couldn't do so, and the following message was displayed: "Terminating interface thread". I could not close ImgBurn even via XP Pro Task Manager, so was forced to power down. In case it was a temporary glitch, I repeated this after restarting, but with identical results. I'm obviously keen to isolate the cause! -- Terry, East Grinstead, UK
  14. Very persuasive - duly updated! -- Terry, East Grinstead, UK
  15. Thanks, appreciate that very fast reply. Pleased to report that the next attempt with a different DVD+RW brand, Tuffdisc, was OK. I'll retry other examples of the 'Datawrite' later. Thanks too for that firmware link. Always a bit nervous about messing with hardware, but I've downloaded and might pluck up the courage to give it a try! -- Terry, East Grinstead, UK
  16. I've just been trying to burn a tiny image (59 MB) to a DVD+RW. (The brand is 'Datawrite'.) I gave ImgBurn permission to erase the disc. That took a surprisingly long time - about 15 mins. How long should it take please? Then, when I thought the burn had finally been done, I got this message: Close Session Failed! Device: [3:0:0] PIONEER BD-ROM BDC-202 1.01 (D:) (SCSI) Reason: Unknown (Internal Target Failure) (0x44, 0x4C) After a few retries I canceled from that and then saw 'Ready (Disc Needs Formatting)'. Is that normal? The previous contents of this DVD+RW (created by asimilar procedure and burned with ImgBurn) seemed OK, so I didn't expect a problem, or any need to reformat. Anyway, I OK'd that and 'Erasing Disc' appeared again.I wasn't optimistic of a different outcome and sure enough it failed to Close, with identical message. I've just seen your request to include a copy of the log. (BTW, it's very handy being able to view it while processing continues.) I've pasted it below for that operation. 17. Thanks, appreciate the fast response. OK, I'll ignore it. But, if it's essentially meaningless, wouldn't it be better to either remove it altogether or (ideally) change it to an estimate of playing time on a 4.5 GB DVD? -- Terry, West Sussex, UK
  18. How is the 'Time' field meant to be interpreted please? While burning an ISO of a DVD I noticed that it's reporting '32:38:35'. Yet the DVD is only about 6? mins. Its size is correctly reported as about 300 MB. -- Terry, West Sussex, UK
  19. Good thinking. Yes, it was indeed one that I'd tried with the BTC drive. Specifically (my note-keeping is paying off!) it was stuck for about 90 mins at 99% of ImgBurn's attempt to format it. Therafter it was giving 'No disc inserted' messages etc. Since getting the new NEC drive I've 'recovered' no fewer than 14 RW discs of various types that I'd thought were destined for the bin! Have burned about 4 of these so far (50 min DVD, about 2 GB). -- Terry, West Sussex, UK
  20. Yes, thank, that squares with the inconsistent result here. As per my later post, the second attempt with same disc gave the correct result. -- Terry, West Sussex, UK
  21. No, but I ejected and re-loaded the disc. Just done so again, after restarting ImgBurn, and still get that status. And same after F5. Details in the right pane remain exactly the same as before. Hang on, I'll try erasing it again... Hmm - this time, status reports 'Ready'! Otherwise, all info and log were identical. Took 4 seconds less than last time: I 12:24:36 Operation Successfully Completed! - Duration: 00:14:30 Curious... -- Terry, West Sussex, UK
  22. Now that I've installed my new NEC DVD drive I'm cheerfully recovering several of the RW discs I'd previously almost written off with the BTC drive. For the +RW types I'm using Full Erase, and that's working fine, and I've subsequently burned a couple of these successfully. But I've just noticed that after a Full Erase I still get the message 'Disc Not Empty' in the status line. 25. Still having problems, even with RICOH DVD+RW. So looks like either the BTC DVD drive, or some obscure software issue. I ordered a new drive (an NEC) on Wednesday, but the darn delivery hasn't included it. "Temporarily out of stock", despite nothing to that effect when I ordered online from SVP ;-( One thing I still haven't really grasped (although I'm guessing it's something to do with this foreground/background stuff) is why Nero Express apparently formats a DVD +RW in a mere 14 seconds? 14:56:26 Burn process started at 4x (5,540 KB/s) 14:56:26 Start formatting disc before burning 14:56:40 Formatting disc was successful -- Terry, West Sussex, UK
