Right, I give up, just ordered a new drive.

Well I just had a look in BIOS, found an option for Primary master and Primary slave PIO set to auto. The other options were Mode 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4. Didn't know which to choose. PLus, the drive is theSecondary master, with my HDD being the Primary master.

I dont have an XP box to hand so will have to try that tomorrow. I will try the BIOS thing now.

Doesn't look like safe mode will work either, the program runs and thebar along the bottom increases but it still says erasing flash ROM when it gets to the end and stops responding. Any other ideas? What If I tried in XP?

Yes pretty sure it is the master, it is the only IDE on that channel and the only disk drive in my system so should be anyway. Trying in safe mode now.

Nothing, AOpen flasher just crashes whilst tring to erase the memory of it. http://club.aopen.com.tw/forum/viewmessage...MessageID=78216 Looks like that guy got it to work, but he doesn't say how and that was 3 years ago.

Well that did nothing, I'm trying to flash this RICOH one with the AOpen flasher now.

Just rebooted windows as the drive wasn't working, now windows only sees "CD Drive", ImgBurn sees "Found 1 unknown" and the patcher sees cdrom0: RICOH Ploader2 REGULUS2.01 even though the only disk drive in my PC is the AOpen one. Windows just popped up a message saying new hardware installed and I have to restart so will try that now.

Nothing is flashing on the drive, looks pretty idle. Windows can see it too. I will try to run the flashing software again.

Sorry for the double post, my other post isn't up to edit yet. Yes, I removed the disk like it asked me to, it didn't give any other instructions than that.

Also to continue the original problem I just tried to burn the disk on another PC, here is the log of the error.
